I'm actually about to seal a deal for a 2019 NX 300h because I can't find a Limited Hybrid RAV4 in my area nor the dealership is willing to order one because of allocations. Also believe it or not my local Lexus dealer is willing to go down in price for more than $3000. The Toyota ones won't give more discount other than the regular rebate.
Don’t know where you are but I’d look at other models if you really want a Rav. I got over $1700 reduction for my LE and it’s got the TSS and BSM package.

I hear you :)

We were about to drive out state to get a Limited RAV4 Hybrid but it was sold out by the time we called. My wife is stuck on the Limited one so makes things harder :D

Tell her she’s wrong!:egad:

No, she's not wrong. Patience is a virtue. I've been waiting and my Blizzard white with Nutmeg Limited, Limited Advanced Tech pkg, Limited weather pkg, all weather mats w/cargo mat, special color, and Premium audio w/Nav & Entune apps & JBL will be here in about a week and a half. I'm stoked :D.

I seriously considered the UX, NX and RX. The UX is way too small. While the NX and RX are both very nice, the significant reduction in cargo space was an issue for me. That combined with the current versions of both those models, I believe, represent less value than the RAV4 hybrid.

I must admit, the Lexus mouse pad infotainment really is archaic to my thinking. I have read the RX refresh next year will get a touch pad screen infotainment system.

Contrary to what others have posted here, I read that the NX will not be redesigned until the 2021 model year.

I have a special order in through my dealer right now. Due to things I will not go into here, it is an order they have to find being built vs. an actual order. If that takes too long and the NX turns out to be a great redesign, I could change my mind.

I share your opinion 100%, you took those ideas from my mind (mirror minds).

Yes
UX to small
NX is a turbo so no go for me
RX to much $$ and freaking ugly IMO especially rear pillar area
Lexus has gone bonkers on their front grills. Hideous. Toyota not far behind.

Are any of you prospective 2019 RAV4 hybrid buyers also considering a comparable Lexus vehicle? Besides price, what would push you in one direction or the other?

It just dawned on me that while price is always an important factor in the purchase of my next vehicle, it might not be the most important factor. I've owned Toyota products since 1989, with a couple of short term exceptions, and I really appreciate the reliability and value of the line. I've never explored the Lexus line, but am at that stage in life when spending a little more to get a little more no longer seems so wild and wacky.

Thanks for any thoughts you have on the question.
I considered a Lexus (have a 2014 ES300H) but they just didn't have anything that I thought looked better than the XSE so I bought the Toyota.

When I was still doing my homework on the RAV4, I contemplated the UX because in terms of price range it was similar to the RAV4 hybrid that I was budgeting for. When I sat in the UX at the autoshow in February, I realized how tiny it was (in both the cabin space and trunk space). It's definitely a whole different class than the RAV4 (it's more in line with the CH-R). To me, I don't want to feel like I'm in a fighter jet cabin when I'm driving, and I want a usable trunk/cargo space. So the UX fell off my list at that point. The NX was simply out of my price range as it is easily $10,000CAD more than the RAV4.

I literally have been comparing right now keeping my crv, getting a 2016 nx or Rx, or the new rav. I have driven all. I was,I’ll say if you have the money get the rx. Wow the comfort and quietness compared to the others is really shown in the price point. I was so torn to get the rx but I am one of the people who think in the next few years gas will be $5 so the 20mpg city which is most of my driving won’t cut it. I got a great quote on an xle hybrid and I am figuring out a day to go get it. It’s in a rural area. But hands down the value and mpg is awesome.

Add- I wasn’t impressed by the nx enough to pay the premium. Personal tastes obviously.

I agree - the interior of the NX 300h just doesn't impress. Too many cluttered, tiny buttons, and that stupid trackpad... I like the refinement and noise reduction; I suspect that squeaks and rattles will take awhile to manifest, as my 2010 RX350 is still pretty quiet. But 30 mpg vs. 40 mpg for someone who drives 25k miles per year is a substantial draw, for sure.

That track pad is ........................................ fill in as many words as you can’t say on the radio haha

I have a 2018 RX 450hl and a 2016 Rav H. They are both great vehicles, and both are fully loaded with every option available. The RX in terms of appointments, ride and being quiet is far superior to the new Highlander. Mechanically, the Rav is perfect, but lacks refinement and is not as quiet like the RX. I suppose the new Rav is quiet too, but probably not like the NX, however, I would not get an NX until their redesign comes out. Price is not too much of an issue for me, so I would wait on the NX until the redesign, but would get the RX now if you can deal with the infotainment. By the way, I really like the mouse, but Lexus could have used some more buttons rather than having to deal with a menu for certain functions. I really like the hybrid technology, and all the features that come with it over gas models, however MPG was not a criteria, but rather a nice bonus.

Price isn't much of an issue for me either - but mileage and functional dash is. The 2019 RAV isn't as soundproofed as the Lexus, but the RAV4 hybrid mileage is something that lets me overlook it. I just didn't like the NX 300h.

I had an FJ Cruiser before I bought the RX350, so I'm sure the RAV4 hybrid will be fine. It's at least as refined and much, much quieter than the FJC.

Yes, I would not consider the NX until their redesign comes out. I would guess that the RAV and The NX would have the same drive train and about the same MPG then, but the NX should be quieter and with more amenities.

I can't wait much longer. If the NX is redone in 2021, I will have bought something else by then. My RX 350 has 247k miles on it, and it's time.

I am a sinner! I ended up buying the 2019 NX Hybrid and I'm very happy granted will not get the same mileage as with the RAV4 however the car was for my wife. Also the Lexus dealer was able to give me a $5000 reduction for a Luxury model so I just went for it :D

I will later get the RAV4 Hybrid once I'm done with my 4Runner which I still love very much ;)

I have to say, I'm very impressed with the Hybrid technology (first time owner) and it just makes sense not to waste gas when it's not needed. Loving it so far :)

My only problem with NX hybrid how much slower it is then Rav4 (0-60 9.1 seconds vs 7.4) and less efficient, but aside from that it's fine. I was actually considering to get a used one, but for the same price new rav4 made more sense.

Oh! Absolutely! There is no debate. The RAV4 feels and it is more responsive/powerful however we felt it was not enough reason to pass on the Lexus one. We are at week 2 since we bought it and have zero issues to report or buyer's remorse.

One thing is for sure, the engine feels less noisy and the ride is smoother than the RAV4 but of course, it was expected as Lexus adds more noise padding than the RAV4.

One thing I need to get out my system :) I wish the RAV4 had the hood struts the NX has. I absolutely hate the solution Toyota opted. It just feels like an accident waiting to happen.
