Hi, this is my first toyota and love it. But some things I miss. I live in an area outside the city, pretty dark in the night. When I open my car, there are only light under the mirror to see the doors entrance. However in my former cars from volkswagen, audi I had a coming home feature, that also put on the head lights, far better light in the dark.
Do you know if this function is also available in the rav4 2019? And if not, would it be possible to enable this somewhere in the service-menu?

Furthermore I like having the rear light always on, also during the day, would it be possible to enable this somewhere in the service-menu?

What trim is your RAV4? On my limited hybrid model, the headlights will stay on for a standard 30s and it's adjustable to a longer duration via Carista.

As for the rear lights, I believe that's also tied to the headlights staying on for the same duration of time. Again, I have the limited trim so may be that's a feature not available in the lower trim levels.

Another thing is I also have Automatic Headlights and I'm not sure if the above-described delay is tied into having Automatic Headlights. So the question back to you is which trim level do you have?

This can be set (on/off and duration) using Carista.

Edit - sorry, just noticed someone said the same thing.

If you have the built-in navigation, this can be changed by the user.

From the op manual:

145686

145687

Read it again, "vehicles with Nav or multimedia", the setting is in Vehicle Customization in Setup> Vehicle> Vehicle Customization> Lighting IIRC, ignition must be on.
OK, so re-reading since all trims have a display outside of the MID. This setting is then on all trim lines but the setting for the headlight delay is not found anywhere in the MID system. It can only be adjusted on the "other" display. So bottom line, if I read that correctly, it can be adjusted without any intervention by the ODBII connector.

Multimedia system is the Entune 3.0 head unit which comes in all gen 5 Rav4s, 7" or 8".

My problem is that I don not want the lights on and there is no 'OFF' switch. The Off on the light settings turns off the 'auto-off', i.e the lights stay on until the battery drains down. I would just like to drive with no lights on at all - i.e I would like to control when the lights come on and go off - is that too much to ask?

I'm not sure what the law is in the U.S. regarding daytime running lights but in Canada it's mandated that vehicles have daytime running lights on at all times. So there's no "off" options for the DRLs. Also, the DRL will turn off when you turn off the ignition, so it will not drain the battery.

There is an off position on the headlights, I've used it many times in all my Rav4s, read section 4-3 in the manual "Operating the lights and wipers", it covers both US and Canada.

Thanks for the info. There are 2 types of light stems in Australia. I have Type B which has 3 positions: 1. Tail lights & DRL, 2. headlights & lights, 3. AUTO. On Auto, I can select the lights to turn off after 30 secs. On 1 & 2, the lights turn off after 20 minutes. There appears to be no way to drive without lights on. Same for internal lights, although I can leave them off.

In the movies the heroes drive up to the cabin in the woods with all lights off - guess no RAV4s will feature in cop movies!!
