Currently building a 2020 Limited Hybrid. Going with Weather Package and Carpet Mats.

Is the ToyoGuard Premium worth adding for 699? It adds:
  • 2 Oil and Filter Changes at any Toyota Dealer
  • Four Tire Rotations
  • Roadside and Rental Car Assistance
  • Exterior Paint Sealant and Interior Protector
Seems high to me but didn't know if the paint sealant and interior protector were important to have.

(BTW, single older person, no animals, no kids, just using car for basic transportation and road trips)

Dealership synthetic oil changes are anywhere between $40 and $60, so two @ $60= $120
Tire rotations are about $25, so four @$25 = $100
AAA+ = $100 per year
I would use the rest of the money to find a reputable detailer and ceramic coat the car, much better than the SE Toyota sealant.
A properly done ceramic coating will last for years. SE Toyota sealant will last for a few months at best.

A bottle of 303 automotive interior protection or a can of Scotchguard is less than $20.00 for the interior or ask the detailer.

Might be able to save even more on roadside assistance and rental car coverage. I think I can get roadside assistance for $5 a car for 6 months with Progressive. I think rental reimbursement would run another $10 or $20.

Variman is spot on. No need to pay a premium for something that doesn’t save you money. In fact, it’s something I would never want to pay interest on and finance as part of a vehicle purchase. Meguiars Ultimate is probably a better sealant than what they are pitching.

At one point Southeast Toyota included it on all cars, so I have it - I had no choice. Its not worth it if you do have a choice.. Your simply paying for stuff up front at full price, and as mentioned AAA is readily available, and has other benefits as well - like Hotel discounts.

Thanks everyone. I will skip it for sure (unless it's free LOL). I'll look into ceramic sealant and a self spray on protectant. Can the 303 be used on the SoftTex Ventilated Seats? Or is Scothguard better?

Ruthrj, I do have AARP Roadside Assistance. I have read that it is not a good idea to get roadside assistance from your car insurance compay, because if you make a towing or lock out claim, they consider it like a 'real' claim and can raise your rates or drop your coverage.

Is Meguiars for the outside sealant or inside seat protection?

You can spray 303 Stain Guard or Scotchguard on all fabric and carpet. You can use 303 automotive protectant on SoftTex. Here is a link for both products,

I’ve been with Progressive for 5+ years, always had small claim forgiveness and recently earned large claim forgiveness. I’ll drop them like a bad habit if they jack my rate up over a roadside assistance call. Thanks for the heads up. I’ve never heard of that concern.

I had the Meguiars Ultimate paste wax in mind for the exterior. IMO that’s as good as you can do short of getting a ceramic coating. I’m doing that every 3-6 months with applications of Turtle Wax Seal N Shine monthly. Clay bar once a year on top of that that.

I don’t have a solid recommendation though for the interior. I’m using Meguiars leather protectant on the upholstery (even though it’s synthetic SofTex). Turtle Wax dash and glass cleaner for the dash/doors texts I think 303 is highly recommended but I’ll let others chime in. I can’t remember what most used in the SofTex thread.

About upholstery protection, I got seat covers which are washable - simply remove them if they get dirty and toss them into the washing machine, taking care to avoid shrinkage. No other upholstery maintenance needed over 8 years. My RAV4 had carpeted floor mats - replace them with Weathertech floor liners. Maintenance involves occasionally taking out and washing off the liners. All this eliminates a lot of maintenance.
