Just purchased a XLE Hybrid and it came with the roof rack. I want to make sure I can remove and/or adjust the rack in the future so am trying to find the key that allows the rack to be removed/adjusted. I checked the glove compartment and spare tire storage area and no luck. Any ideas where else I should check?

Thanks

The Dealer is probably clueless because the crossbars are usually installed at the Port and not the Dealer.

By the way, did you get the bag with the wrench and rail covers? That bag more important than the "key". The key is just a plastic knob that is used to turn unscrew the end covers on the crossbars. If you ever want to to take the crossbars off, you'll need the wrench and the decorative covers that cover the empty spaces left by the crossbars. (My crossbar "keys" were actually in the bag with the other parts and the instruction paper.)

Also, the crossbars aren't "adjustable" like you suggested in your original post, meaning they only install in one single location and can't be moved forward or backward.

Once the crossbars are installed, are there “plugs” to fill the indentations where the crossbars were installed (presumably where you could access the bolt to remove them), or do these indents just remain open? My dealer installed them and seems logical to me there would be some kind of plastic plugs or covers for aesthetics. ***Correction: these indents appear to be where the locks are located.

The crossbars and the towers come off as a single unit, leaving a rectangular hole on the top surface of the rail itself. The four black rectangular pieces at the bottom of rav4journey's photo above snap into those spots to cover the point points for the towers.
