I have been stalking for a while here, trying to find the solution to whatever our RAV decided to do, yet found very much nothing, not even in in-site search function.
Please don't crucify me, but I have had not got the codes, as code readers can get expensive and current situation is not exactly friendly for random visits to some workshop.
So I have been going by symptoms.

The car is 2006 2.2 D-Cat 177 Hp tuned up to 205-ish. It worked fine all the time until now, and despite extensive service done to the car, it still remains in this odd state.
This has been going on for a month about now.

The car usually starts fine, though it can be caught idling at 1100 sometimes, and sometimes the CEL, VSC, and AWD pop up immediately, though not all the time.
All is fine as long as the engine is cold, the car drives fine, responds on throttle, everything. Then after you drive it for a while, say 10-12 minutes, the engine warms up, and suddenly, the CEL;VSC;AWD beep up, the car loses all power, and goes into what we call the easy limp mode.
The car does not limit itself to certain speed, you can get to 90 Km/H (albeit, slowly as..), instead it will not rev over 2000, no matter how you floor it, all support systems turn off.
And it does not respond to the throttle well.

First, clueless, we cleaned the MAF sensor, bought the car new battery (that was tied in to old one being dead and car not starting at all), bought a new air filter, basic maintenance.
Checked for any leaks, made inspection of glow plugs, cables, seals. Nothing
Then these forums pointed us to the SCV valve, which by symptoms looked like it could be it. However, we cleaned it, and it did not even seem to be electrically dead.
So now we are stumped. Any ideas? I fear it might be the ECU or Thermostat, one expensive, latter "not fun" to replace.

Welcome to the forum, and no one will pour scorn, this forum is not like that - the Mods will be on it :)

The symptoms you describe could be for a multitude of reasons. I know you say scanners can be expensive, but a cheaper code reader will give some direction without having to load the parts canon. I do not know where you are from with your flag (my bad), so I may be wrong on the cost of a base reader.

The fact the Rav is fine when cold, leads me to think about engine or tranny temp sensors, or one of the sensor wires on a harness having higher resistance as temperatures rise. Again, this really is a pure guess without codes

Get Techstream off Amazon or fleaBay ($22-$30). It doesn't matter who you buy from as the various sellers most likely all buy from the same one or two people in PandaLand. Techstream is the official diagnostic software written for Toyota vehicles (Toyota, Daihatsu/Scion, Lexus), and used at all Toyota dealerships. Do install on a spare obsolete laptop, for security reasons. No log into email, bank, credit cards once the hacked copy of Techstream is installed. Ask friends/family may have a spare laptop laying around. Windows is easiest to install. Mac is possible, just search the Internet on how people managed this.

Pay $20 for a two day temporary subscription to Toyota's TIS (Technical Information System). You can download a copy of the factory service manual. You will likely have to convert the file format TIS uses (I think CHM) into a PDF version. The manual is worth its weight in gold. Great diagrams and trouble shooting trees. Good step-by-step procedures on repairs. The Haynes/Chilton repair manuals suck in comparison to the factory service manual.

Once you get the codes read, you can reference the trouble shooting section. A laundry list of things to check/rule-out will need to be done to fix your problems. This is where you want to start. Replace enough parts, unnecessarily, you might just fix the problem(s).
