I wanted to replace the factory (non-JBL) dash speakers to the Kicker 47KSC3504 and am confused about the usage of the red wolf harness as per https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RMZ4CR6

There has been a few comments from here and reddit that says the harness is wrong and you'll need to "fix" it for 5th gen Rav4, what exactly is the fix ?

In the amazon listing itself it even says (Picture #5) "For 2019-2021 Dash Speakers, Wires are reversed in polarity. SO before install work positive and negative on your tweeter"

Are we talking about plugging red onto black on speaker and vice versa, or is there wiring cutting required ?

Thanks

You are correct. If you know your speaker's positive then you'd plug in the black from the red wolf and then the red to the speaker's negative. You don't need to swap the wires in the connector itself unless it really bugs you to have the opposite color scheme.

But then it's "wrong" ?!? And you have to make it fit the other way ?
I’m not concerned about this. I’m not basing my installation off of a picture image from a Chinese company. Also, there are a number of YouTube videos on using this connector and nobody has changed the polarity. I’m happy with the direct plug and play install. It sound much better than the stock tweeters even if the polarity is reversed.

Correct. Don't hook it up backwards. If you hook up the front speakers with backwards phasing, then you will have lots of cancellation between the rear speakers and front speakers (hooked up backwards). A lot of times this cancellation kills bass frequencies too.

I used the same Kicker 47KSC4504 Kicker speakers you intend to use and I also used the Red Wolf harnesses. You can see here I flipped the polarity: Kicker KSC350 (SKU - 47KSC3504) 3.5" Dash Speakers...

You can see the factory wiring diagram in post 2 of the thread, which should convince you that you need to connect red of the RW harness to negative, and black of the RW to positive.

Okay, so I've ordered and received the Kicker 47KSC3504, I came with a pair of "in-line crossovers with 11" Lengths of speaker wire attached (tinned wire on the input end and three female quick slides on the output end)"

So at one end with 3 connectors obviously go onto the speaker itself. The other end had a positive label on one of the ends, so I would just "connect" the "positive" line with the black connector coming from the Red Wolf, correct ?

So instead of messing with the red wolf wiring harness polarity. Does anyone one of the harness that comes with the JBL club 322 sold by clutch field is correct and doesn’t need modifying?

I just installed the 322F along with the 620F speakers in the front this past week. Crutchfield supplied the Metra harness with both sets of speakers. I can confirm the polarity is reversed on the Metra harness and easy to fix. Cut the harness wires in the middle and swap ends. Takes 2 minutes. I know its best to crimp or solder but I used wire nuts. I understand the Red Wolf harness is exactly the same as the Metra. I first installed without reversing the wires and had a faint buzz in the dash speakers. After I reversed no buzzing. Other than the faint buzzing I couldn't tell the difference in sound quality but I doubt the rear speakers being out of phase would cancel out much bass because they have little to no performance. In the process of installing new rear door speakers now.

Ah. Thanks for confirming I guess I’ll still have to mess with the harness.

so do we just swap the black and red? Where I circled?

so do we just swap the pairs two gray cables with the two white cables? I stole the following picture.

I wouldn't do anything to the factory wiring connector. Plug the Red Wolf harness to the factory connector shown in the picture. The other end of the RW harness is the positive and negative leads to the new speaker, one with a larger end matches the large spade on the speaker and one with a smaller end matches the small spade on the speaker. If you plug them in like that they will be out of phase, so ( my simple solution ) cut the 2 RW wires going to your new speakers in the middle, strip back the insulation on each end ( 4 ends ) and connect the wire with the large spade connector to the wire that use to have the small spade connector ( I did it with small electrical wire nuts ). Then connect the wire with the small spade connector to the harness wire that use to have the large spade connector. Done. Now you have the correct polarity and didn't cut or change anything on the factory Toyota wiring.

Ugh! Thanks for trying to explain it. But my dense head can’t follow it. I guess I’ll see when I actually get the speakers.

Totally and re reading your post makes sense now.
Better order your door speakers, you know you will want them after installing the dash speakers. I was only going to the dash a couple of weeks ago and now have installed new front door speakers and just received new Infinity speakers for the back doors. While I had the door panels off did Hushmat insulation. Doors don't sound like a hollow tin can anymore.
