When I pulled down the overhead console with the map lights I managed to break all four of the red clips that hold it in place. In one of the videos I watched the same thing happened to that guy, so I don't feel too bad.

I used interior trim tools and was careful and came away with the new LED lights installed, but was not able to re-install the overhead console without first making a trip to the Toyota dealership to purchase 4 new clips. They are inexpensive, but necessary if you break one of yours during the removal process.

It is possible to change the map lights without removing the overhead console by removing the lens. There are some videos showing how to accomplish that task without breaking the tabs holding it in place.
Oh! Sorry about this. I was very concerned myself but I was ready to order the clips if things went wrong however I had no issues. I did use the trim tool and made sure I primed the red clips area. Maybe I got lucky.

But for sure this was my least favorite part of the light swap :)

Imo, it’s best to take off the entire trim piece and not the lenses. These pics might help.

Can you explain or provide video how this is done? I tried removing the whole piece as per the OP's shared video, but I got the top two clips off but couldn't get the bottom two clips off. I was pulling pretty hard from the top to get the bottom clips to release but I gave up because I didn't want to break anything. Your way seems better.

I agree the stock bulbs in the RAV4's are awful. I would like to replace them with LED bulbs, BUT -- I don't want the LED bulbs to be too bright.
Lasfit seem like they would be too bright. The AUTOGINE lights seem bright too.
Can anyone who has installed either of these tell me if they are so bright they interfere with night time driving?
Thanx.

My LS500 has all LED bulbs, they're nice. My R4P has incandescent and there is no chance I'll swap them to LED.

Why? Because aftermarket LED companies only seem to care about making the lights as bright as humanly possible. OK so I'm getting older LOL but the last thing I want is 1,200 lumens when I turn on my map light. Can you say blinded? The bulbs aren't the brightest that come from the factory but at least they don't light up like the sun when you turn them on LOL.

That's why I'm concerned about LED's for the Prime. Do they make less bright LED's?

Everything goes straight in, so if you are stuck it might be because you dropped the other side too much. The stuck tabs might be acting like a lever. I would try pulling equally from two sides simultaneously with trim tools

I replaced my interior lights with the Autogine brand off Amazon. They are bright, but I don't find it too blinding. The OEM lights were practically useless. Don't get the Powerty interior lights. The dome and map lights are a matrix of LEDs that are too bright.

Here are three videos. I did the step well lights at the same time I did the sequential turns — for in order to get to the step well light, you have to basically take the entire mirror apart anyway.

One video is better than all the rest but worthy of working your way through all three. It is not the easiest mod for getting the mirror completely apart is fine but then getting it properly back together is challenging — and I probably have done over 150 car mods in my life. But I did get them back together and the mod is so terrific.

I just completed the installation today - this is so much better than the factory lights. Just out of curiosity - how long do you guys think the Lasfit lights will last? Most LED bulbs seem like they will last for 10+ years…I’m curious to see if anyone has had to replace a LED or Lasfit bulb already…

No reason other than I don't want to be removing exterior parts. I have OCD and I rather not to mess with stuff that later can get water inside, etc. :)

Also I don't see a good reason for it.
[/QUOTEYou sound like me! Same reasoning. I am going to tackle the lights on the mirrors. That does not look too hard and the lights are much brighter. The sequential lights look way cool too!!
