It’s a 2020 rav4, a little less than 20k miles
Did you buy it new or as a used rental car?

If it was new and you put the 20k on the odometer then you know what it's gone through it's entire life so I think that would help your case.

If it was a used rental car, then it could have been abused and who knows the underlying damage that was caused before you bought it. Toyota might know this from the vehicle telemetry (aka, phone home data stream).

Now where did I put the roll of aluminum foil; I need a new hat

Haha. I bought it new with only about 500 miles on it. If anyone knows how it’s been driving it, it would be me. Toyota likes to take your money but doesn’t care of anything after you buy it. I am hiring a few different certified mechanics to diagnose it. The more I know the better case I have.

To be fair though its not just Toyota dealers who suck. In my experience and internet reading all dealers for any make of car will try to weasel out of expensive and time consuming warranty repairs if they can get away with it. I have had issues with Jeep and Ford dealers .

Thank you for your advice. I agree mechanical issues are much more serious although you shouldn’t be having to deal with paint issues either. I am going to investigate this and have have plenty of documentation to get a lawyer if they don’t want to figure it out. I will be contacting the regional and corporate even though I reached out already once and they just said to take it to another dealership and didn’t seem to care. Toyota has changed big time they used to be one of the best not anymore.
CEO's in North America and Japan don't like getting emails from mad customers.

Something on this thread doesn't add up. First it was blow by and car shaking. Then it was leaking coolant. Then it was a whole bunch of dealers telling OP this was normal. Now it's I am getting a lawyer.

I am no longer believing any of this thread. I hope it isn't but seems a lot like a troll to me.

I have wondered about trolls on this forum before and accused some posters. There was one guy who was continually bad mouthing the 5th gen Rav4 and hyping Hyundais and Kias. Also when you read some of the wild posts about mirrors shaking and excessive engine or wind noise you have to seriously ask yourself if some of these people are making stuff up. Whenever you have the #1 best selling vehicle in the US there will be trolls.

Hello, my 2020 rav 4 shakes when I first start the car then it stops when RPM goes down.
My car sometimes hesitates to accelerate and they said that it’s normal and cannot duplicate the issue which I’m sick of hearing the same excuse with them.
Also, if I open the engine cap there is serious blow by going on and the Toyota mechanic said it’s a new technology in Toyota and its normal. Said all cars have this and I told him no it does not as I have checked other random vehicles and asked other mechanics.
Also, the engine sounds a bit rough at times and I have taken videos of everything.

Does anyone have input on these issues?
Sounds like you have excessive blow by I would change the EGR valve if this does not fix it you most likely have compression coming around the piston rings which is a major engine rebuild
If you're not happy with your service department tell them you want to contact a Toyota representative to look at it, make sure you have paperwork showing your mileage if it's in warranty, every time I contact the Toyota representative, I have had very good responses with them, you need to post what engine you have how many miles on that engine?

I agree with you. They rely on gadgets to tell them what’s wrong instead of doing the actual work and searching the problem. This is just disgusting!
If they didn't have gadgets they would never figure out what is going on with todays vehicles. Computers and sensors, that the old cars did not have, create the complexity. Mechanical knowledge and logic is therefore relegated to the devices and the computer programs. Some mechanics can't diagnose a flat tire without a TPMS reading from the computer.

On the opposite side, I have had a good experience with Toyota when my 2007 Prius hybrid battery failed after 128000 miles and 6 years. They reimbursed me 1/3 the cost of replacing it even though it was technically out of the 100,000 mile warranty but not 7 years yet.
They also repainted my 2014 Rav4 because of the paint flaking TSB.
However, it was a different story when I bought a used 2019 Camry. The dealer informed me that there was only one key fob when they handed it to me as I was walking out to drive away. It took me a month of calls and emails to the dealer to finally get them to cough up another fob. Then when I asked them why they did not delete the "lost" fob when they added the new one, they told me they don't do that function. I ended up doing it in about 30 sec with my Techstream VCX Nano.

Your mixing two things - warranty from Toyota, and a fob from a crooked used car salesman. Pretty normal.

And AFAIK the OP hasn't been on the forum since before your (and my) conclusion.
