Has anyone figured out a way to get the passenger seat to be lowered yet ?
Its embarrassing when you have a passenger that is tall and they hit their head on the roof
I have access to a full machine shop and I'm willing to modify my seat frame if reasonable anyone know it will work for sure.

This is a rookie mistake for the engineers at Toyota. They need to fix this and the floor mounted pedal ASAP

Any ideas would be appreciated

How tall before the passenger has a head room issue especially with the pan roof? 6ft2 or shorter? Wife is 5ft9 so hope she doesn't have a problem when I get the car or I'm dead meat.

What do you mean by this? Gas pedal? If so, what's wrong with it?
If you live in North America most people get snow falls during winter. When the pedal is floor mounted it means that you cant put a floor mat below it, therefore the pedal and brackets get all dirty and corrode very quickly.
Also the calcium gets into the floor carpeting below and makes a huge mess.

When pedal is raised you simply put the floor mat below it and problem solved.

Hey Nickc72

I would def go sit in one at the dealer because she may find it difficult and uncomfortable
I never checked it but if I had i would have bought another model

Girlfriend is 5'2 so not too bad but anytime I have someone else in the car they always complain and not only tall people.

If you have some free time and dealer has a 2021 sitting on lot go try it out you'll thank me later

I put Weathertech mats down and there's no problem/interference. They're custom fit perfectly around the pedal area with a raised edge so any and all moisture from snow melt or whatever is contained. It even has the two holes for the retainers in the rear so it can't possibly slide forward and get under the pedal which caused the "unintended acceleration" problem Toyota had before.

Thanks for this. It's great advice but the car gets delivered in 2 weeks. I think it's likely then that she'll need to recline her seat a lot! Really strange thing for Toyota to do. I mean, why throw the ergonomics handbook out the window for just the passenger seat.

Weathertech makes excellent mats. I’ve put them in most of my vehicles but with the RAV4s pedal being floor mounted, even with the weathertech mats there is a gap between the pedal and the mat itself and the snow on the bottom of your boot will melt off with the heat and run down the pedal and therefore cause the issues I stated above.

My wife is 5’ 10” and she has the headroom once she is in the RAV4 but getting in can be a problem even with the seat all the way back. She did recline the seat a little bit.
Same issue here!!! it’s getting in that’s difficult once she’s sitting she can recline or adjust but with it being so high everyone says it’s difficult to get into the seat from standing.

We'll see, I guess. I've never heard or read of that happening with any other type of vehicle with the same type of gas pedal setup.

My sister is 160cms and has trouble getting in and out of the passenger seat - long body. My previous Camry had adjustable passenger seats - top of the line RAV does not - extreme cost cutting!!

I'm 6'2" (188cm?) and have no problem riding in the passenger seat of my 2020 XLE

i find this really hard to believe. I'm 6' 175 lbs and the passenger seat is pretty uncomfortable.

Lots of complaints on here about the short seat bottom cushions.

if you're 6'2, unless you have midget legs, you must have the seat all the way back and reclined a bit too, which leaves almost no legroom behind.

What you are all describing is a weird and undesirable quirk of the Rav4.

Everyone who gets in ours notices right away, it is really obvious they placed the passenger seat higher than the driver.

its noticeable, very noticeable.

I'm 6'0" and wide shouldered so I am used to being a bit cramped in cars. The thing I miss the most about our old 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid is the head room. When I am in the passenger seat I keep it two clicks forward from all the way back and one click reclined, or my short hair is brushing the roof. Toyota could have definitely done a little better with the interior headliner design and seat adjustments. I'm guessing they didn't make the seat height adjustable for room under the seats for possible amps, batteries, etc.

I agree it's definetly an annoyance although so far out of 10 or so passengers I've had in my car it has only been an issue for 1 of them. I'm 5'11 and I personally don't really mind the height so much but I would have preferred the seat itself be a power seat but you can only get that in the top of the line rav4 prime.

I heard in the highlander this was an issue as well and starting in 2022 they are getting a height adjustable passenger power seat in XLE trims and above, I wonder if the same thing will happen to the 2022 rav4? I will be honest though I will be a little annoyed and jealous if it does come to the rav4 next year...
