I bought a 2021 RAV4 hybrid while you still could. We polled the dealer staff on the best color for the car. Of 13 workers, 12 said that the white body with black roof and black wheels was the coolest color by far in the Toyota lineup. We agreed and bought one. It is clear that other auto manufacturers have gotten the message, inc Range Rover, which have copied Toyota on this color scheme. The other RAV4 colors for 2021 look drab by comparison - all of them - so quite happy I got the color combo I wanted! Probably would have ended up getting any other color re-painted to the black and white.

I'm partial to the white/black combo as well but you just insulted everyone with a different color than white. Good luck in this thread because I believe you are going to get roasted, or toasted, or something like that. Maybe the next guy that came in bought a red one and everyone in the dealership said red and black was the coolest color combo. They are selling cars you know. Just saying.

Actually everything in the post is truthful and a matter of personal preference. As for the dealership at the time, I had a wide range of color choices as I was not looking to buy just a hybrid and they would have cleared more if I had bought a different color. No one should be insulted re their preference for an alternative color or to find out that workers at dealerships have a strong color preference. If anyone is slighted by the post, it might be workers (most of whom were not sales people by the way). The idea that they would lie about their color preference just to sell a car. At any rate, no slight intended, and these cars are super regardless of color. But the white and black boldly highlight this style leader's amazing engineered look and as such make it a classic automobile. And yes, any way you slice it, the other color choices are drab in comparison.

I do have to agree that sales person will say anything to sell a car. When I was buying my car they only had 1 rav4 hybrid in stock but they had around 10 venza's and they were trying to sell me a venza saying how "it's a much better car that is only a little more expensive but blows the rav4 out of the water".

Luckily I did my research beforehand and the venza was not the car I wanted. But saying goes, DO NOT trust the dealership, they will say anything to sell you a car they have in stock.

I think the white/black is a great color but it really comes down to personal preference and in these times when it's hard to even one find one in stock we can't really be too picky.

Bought a rav for my wife so she got to pick the colour. Refrigerator white. Yuck! Black looks great for about an hour after it is washed. Then again, all my taste is in my mouth. I once owned a baby poop green pickup truck.

Glad you got the color combination you like. I personally don’t care for black on cars and only like two tone on Rolls Royces, so there’s my opinion.
My other opinion, most sales people and (especially) finance people will say almost anything to sell you something.

Then why make the title of the thread a sweeping generalization? You boldly assert your preferences as if they should be everyone's.

They would say that because there was one in that color combo sitting on the lot that there was an extra incentive for them to sell, had been sitting there the longest.

Living in the south, why would you want a black roof? In the north, maybe. And maybe some don't want to call attention with their car. Solid color, no visible mods, etc.

I like the red, just not in NC. I have the solid white. So does my wife, so were our two previous cars. No reason you should feel the same.

I made the assertion because I believe it true, and the subsequent information provided the reasoning (in my view compelling). I also clearly indicated that people (obviously) should follow their own color preferences. Someone such as yourself is free to make decisions based on his state of residence. Based on long experience with southland temps I can tell you that a black or white roof only makes a nominal difference in cab temperature or air conditioning output. I prefer to decide on a color based on a car's look and metalwork/design features rather than a geographic factor.

I drove white cars for most of my driving life in Texas since 1968. Always was told get a white car because it will be cooler inside will that didn't make a hill of beans difference in 100+ degree days sitting on a parking lot. also the Rav4 XSE I have has a black roof with the Pano glass. It is hot when I get in it but that is why Carrier invented AC. What has made a big difference in the interior heat was having the inside of the windshield coated with the Xpel coating film that reduces the UV and infrared light entering the interior. Waiting for next year we will do the to other windows.

Well since we’re asserting our color preferences (and insulting all the others), I went with the silver/black XSE and think it’s the best looking of the bunch. Personally, I would never buy a white car, given the option. If it’s a sedan, people will think you’re an undercover cop and slow down. And when I see a white SUV, the first thought that pops into my head is “yuppie prick”. It’s a dumb stereotype, but based on this post, it might be accurate.

I was planning on blacking out my roof with a wrap but I live in the tropics. My taillights already started to heat craze so I put the blackout on hold. Actually I just stopped caring the rav4 for me is like a nice appliance that gets me from a to b. It's so practical it's hard for me to justify trading lol.

You are an interesting case. When you see a white car you think it's a cop and a white SUV a "yuppie prick." Seems like you have some issues - big time. Like a scared and mad thing happening in your head, all triggered by white vehicles. Work on it man - there's enough road rage happening out there. A white car is just a car and the owners as different as any other group of folks. Yes, white is a beautiful complement to the RAV4's futuristic design - but pls don't freak if you see one on the highway.

Personally, I don't like gray cars regardless of whether they are really light gray (white) or really dark gray (black) or any shade in between. But that is my personal preference which is why I chose red as the best color for me as an individual. It is certainly not the most popular color. Why would I want to have the most popular color if it was a color that I didn't particularly like? Did I ask my neighbors and coworkers what color I should buy? No need to, I bought the color that I thought looked good to me.

The bonus is that it's easier to find in the parking lot which has become a sea of gray. :)

I've gotta say that after white, my choice would be red. The RAV4 pops in that color as well. That parking lot thing is real, and the white color also stands out in that sea of gray. 👍
