Hello
I have 2020 Rav4 XLE premium.
Recently, I found out my Rav4 rpm goes up and down when I stop at the light.
I drove about 20 min highway and than I drove about 5 min on local and I notice rpm is going up and down.

Do you guys know any idea why is it doing that ?
It was 3rd time I notice it is doing that.

Thanks.

I am going to offer some suggestions. I really don't know what is causing the RPM fluctuation. It could be the switching between the direct and port injectors is causing it if there is some computer glitch. It could be you have an EVAP leak and the O2 sensors are catching it and the computer is enriching the fuel mixture momentarily to compensate which causes the revs to rise and fall. It could simply be bad gas. Check your gas cap to see if it is in good shape and is clicking shut and is firm. Look carefully at all the small vacuum hoses in the engine compartment to see if any are disconnected, cracked or broken. Buy gas next time at a different station and only use Top Tier gas. Stick in a bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner. It could be you have a defective O2 sensor or even a dirty throttle body but this is unlikely unless your RAV has very high miles. If you have an OBD2 scan tool or better check for codes. If the problem does not clear up I would get it examined by the dealer. A small issue like this could get much worse if it is something like a small vacuum leak or failing O2 sensor--you could burn a valve if the fuel mixture went seriously too lean.

I had similar issue before ingot service please see attachment
