I got my hybrid delivered from Japan in October. I have filed up three times after the low fuel warning came up.

Each time I have pumped 46-47 litres in until auto cutoff - this is about 12-12.5 US gallons. This fits close to the 2 gallons or so (7-8 litres) reserve.

I believe the tank design is different for the NA markets compared to everywhere else due to the differences in pollution control regulations. I don't recall that there were many complaints about refilling the tank outside of the US and CA.

That could explain it - seems like the added complexity of the fuel management system required for the US results in more variability, in some cases quite a bit.

I have a 2020 and had the tank replaced. But it seems it didn't fix the issue. The low fuel come on and I can only get in 10 gallons after a few clicks.
The issue is that the car was advertised having a long range ( I don't recall the figures). These cars should have a range above 500 miles, closer to 600. I say that because my first few fill ups in 2020 showed well above 500.

What does your dealer have to say about this? Have you made a complaint to Toyota CS? And they do have a range of close to 600 miles if you are willing to risk running out of gas. Otherwise, the normal safe driving range is more like 500-560.

Mine (2021) did that for the first 8K-10K miles. Now clicks off at 9.5 to 10.5 where it used to go up to 12.2 Gallons at the same spot. However, my gas mileage has dropped since being cold so maybe that has something to do with the calculations of DTE?

I also have a 2020 limited and have experienced the same issues after the new tank, sender and pump replacement. I am only able to put 9.5 to 10 gallons once the refuel note is displayed. (at the first pump click) There is no way possible to get over 500 miles per tankful if you are only able to put 10 gallons in. Even if you could put 12.5 gallons in the tank, that would give you 490 DTE (40mpg).
I spoke to Toyota CS multiple times and did nothing to resolve this tank issue and they closed the case without fixing anything.
There was a class action lawsuit against Toyota and as usual the lawyers made out!! See attached

I also have a Japanese XSE just picked up the beginning of January. I've filled the tank three times since then and I'm not having the issue others report. Maybe we got lucky.
