Update: There is a leakage in the HVAC system, and it was too little gas in the system for the pump to start. Car is "banned" from being used until they change some of the tubing because the battery heater/cooling is part of the HVAC system.

I got a rental car free of charge until the parts needed is in place. Wich they estimated sometime next week🥴

Any number of things could have caused a refrigerant line to leak, including (but not limited to) a manufacturing defect. Literally just this week I had to have my home heat pump fixed due to a refrigerant leak. It got rather cold in my house.

I am hoping this is resolved for you soon. This thread has had me worried about my R4P's heat pump.

No problem with mine in the UK. But it hasn't been below -5C. In EV mode it just takes too long to warm the car up so I usually just start the front defroster which starts the ICE and leave that for 5 or 6 minutes before switching off and over to air con on highest temp. By the time things have warmed up in the cabin the ICE has switched off and it's back to EV mode. I'd bet this is still more cost efficient than heating the car up from the battery.

Some reports in the UK of a fog horn sound on start up. Theres a TSB fix which changes the moding or timing sequence to stop the noise.

^BEVs are going to adapt an ICE to warmup the cabin and call themselves mild Plug-ins. :ROFLMAO:

I mentioned this on the forum once before but once upon a time I was picked up near the top of a glacier inside the arctic circle by a Russian 8 wheeler. That had a wood and coal burning stove in the back. Like a real big stove with a chimney. Novel de-icing solution. Especially when it is minus 50C.
Not really appropriate to enter into conversation about the engineering at the time but I had a lot of questions I wanted to ask!

Now I want a fire pit for my R4Prime cabin. (Just on the coldest days.)

Imagine the rustic smell of burning wood while it heats up your cabin and can be used to make smores. Don’t forget to crack the moonroof.

The thing is that I feel like I have a fire-pit called the ICE. It controls/spits fire and heat and does the best job (short of fire-pit?) heating the cabin … currently. All the auto manufactures are trying to deal with cabin heat in electrified vehicles. Tesla is all over my feed with Heat-Pump issues in Canada today. My R4Prime cabin heater is the EV/HV button (toggle to HV). In the cold, it works every time (after i’m in R4P) to heat up cabin with the ICE fire and heat.

I was disappointed that Toyota did not give R4Pirme any means to remote start ICE, until we heard about 3rd party Remote Start with Aux button functionality that can ‘press’ the HV button for you remotely … for a price. Now, if it was important to me I could throw some $$ at the problem and get what I expect from Remote Start/Climate. But, I don’t mind getting in and pressing EV/HV myself, and I’m spending my $$ on a 2022 Overhead Console w backlit buttons. I really don’t like jabbing at buttons in the dark.

thx for sharing, now i will keep an eye on it. keep us posted on the actual works being done, a pic of the work description would be 👍

Don't Laugh, but I was still video editing on a Toaster on Amiga until year 2000. 2 X 9GB SCSI HDD cost a fortune back in 97.

The Toaster was way ahead of it's time, much like the Amiga itself, so not at all surprised. I know several small TV stations were still using the setup in the mid-2000's! Ah yes... when computers were exciting.

I've read about some Nissan Leaf owners using a Webasto heater inside the car in the cold frigid North. Apparently a quart of fuel lasts quite a while and they provide a lot of heat. Others have used electric blankets. That can keep the driver warm but defrosting can still be an issue. The Leaf can pre-heat the cabin while plugged in to charge which can help in some situations but not all.

Wow, another Amiga fan??? I truly loved my Amiga 2000, and I have fond memories of Cinemaware.
I had a hunch my comment would scare up a couple of Amiga fans. :)

Think I was the first in Western NY to get a 1000. Upgraded to a 2000 with a Bridgeboard and an Amax II ... an Amiga, 8088 PC, and a Mac all in one box. Pretty incredible back then!

Hi, I am getting the foghorn noise when I have the car in EV mode and the temperature is below about 6 degrees. Do you know what the UK TSB number is please? I called my local dealer and explained the issue but they say they have never heard of it. It seems pointless to book it in for them to look at it as by the time I get it to the garage the system will be warm and I can't guarantee that the temperature on the day I book it in will be cold enough to recreate the issue!
