Hi I just got a 2022 RAV4 Hybrid XLE premium with the JBL sound. I use the USB connector to connect my iphone for navigation and Apple Car Play.
I want to also hear music through a portable bluetooth player. I bought one from Amazon that wont connect. The Bluetooth player connects to other devices, and the RAV4 connects via bluetooth to two different cell phones, so I assume this is a compatibility issue, and indeed the Toyota manual says it wont work with all bluetooth players.
Can anyone recommend a specific portable bluetooth player that works with the Toyota?

FYI the bluetooth player I tried is a Berennis 64 GB mp3 player. It recognizes the RAV4, when I hit pair on the mp3 player, the toyota asks me if the PIN 0000 is displayed on the smart phone, then tries to connect, and fails. Of course the PIN doesnt display on the tiny mp3 player screen

If I cant find a compatible Bluetooth player I may go that route.( I just tried loading a Gb of music into my iphone using FLAC plus, then my cell phone announced I had run out of ICLoud backup space, and I cant find a way to exclude music from ICloud backup.)

I don't know how much storage you have on you iPhone but I have 256 GB and 126 GB free Also I have 10,496 loaded on my phone from Apple and other sources. Ripped CDs etc. They are all in the standard format non FLAC. so in the car with the premium JBL system they still sound great. You wouldn't notice the difference between the normal songs and the FLAC versions. This is especially true with the Apple Music download that are now Lossless and many in Dolby Sound. As for Spotify the free version doesn't allow you to select a song also has ads or you pay for it and you could also have to pay for the CellularData Usage depending on you plan.

I bought a cheap unlocked LG phone with an SD card slot to use as an MP3 player. Unfortunately, if my phone is connected to the CarPlay USB port, I cannot connect the LG via Bluetooth. The stock head unit only allows one or the other at a time.
