This is my current (1/17/21) favorite OBD dongle/app for the Rav4 Prime. You have to buy their dongle and that is how they make their money so it is not cheap. Here is info from Apple store;
Image

I have been trying all the highly reviewed OBD app/dongle options out there, just waiting for one of them to get around to figuring out Toyota’s new ECU bus/OBD2 design changes so we all can see more live data from the ECUs. Last month after I finally got around to registering my MX+ dongle with OBD Link and this great option for Enhanced OEM add-ones opened up to me;

I think other app will catch up soon. Carista beta is good for R4Prime settings, but no live data.

Now in OBDLink, I see a new separate OBD Network-B that you can request to connect with and have access to settings & live data from those ECUs;
Image

There are a ton of live data and setting accessible via default generic Network A. I have barely had time to experiment with Network B because I’m having so much fun with new gauges from Network A. Below is a dashboard trying to look at live data from Heat Pump related system/data;
Image

Notice the PTC Heaters briefly activate on a cold winter EV mode start up. Also watching the A/C Consumption Power, I notice that it always settles in below 2 kW during cold start-ups In EV mode, with moderate AC-Heat requested. It does go above 3kW everything is more warmed up.

If you allow it, the app will always log all the live data values you have selected and it will overlay one live-data-value on a map of your trip. You can get a quick idea of how the value works by watching it change on the route-trace of your trip. You can also export any log file easily and make fun graphs from that! Here is built in data-overlay on trip route-trace.;
Image

This is EV mode %absolute load delivered by Toyota Synergy Drive in very cold conditions so it might be limited max load until everything warms up. Notice the blue %100 absolute load executed to run the yellow light at intersection. Scale is upper left corner of map frame.

I have logs from experiment runs to analyze and eventually I’ll post them here.

Enjoy.

Ok this looks really cool. Nice post! Couple of questions...

Is there anything in here that would give insight into configuring more XGauges from Scanguage? (otherwise I'm seeing an iPad instrument panel in my future!)

And.. I see some stuff on Bus B that relates to lane centering and TSS. Can you see meaningful data on those networks with this tool? If so, and they've figured out whatever encryption Toyota is using, I'm thinking the comma.ai / openpilot folks would be very, very interested.

OK, I had to edit the title of the thread because OBDLink has no functions to set any vehicle settings/values.
OBDLink is my favorite for Live data.
Carista is favorite app for ALL settable vehicle values/settings.
TechStream would be my favorite app for both live data and selecting vehicle values/settings, if the copies out there were not so shady and hard to get running.

I am trying to export the Dashboards (group of gauges) from the OBDLink app and I will share anything I find relating to XGauges. First attempt at exporting failed to find the Export function. Will try again.

I took a closer look at Lane Centering ECU and found a few interesting nuggets of data in other ECUs (relative speed of vehicle in front), but I think we need a Firmware ECU dump to get comma.ai working on R4P and there is (new?) encryption to defeat to do that. There are old (unclaimed) cash bounties out there for the first to get access to firmware, or explain new encryption/design/value format. OBDLink’s progress is promising, but I feel that they are still tuning the connection and data. There should be more more data under Telemetrics, like HV and EV total miles driven & total fuel or kWhs used. I did find ‘hours of operation’ and it may be hours in READY mode (need more data). More break throughs should be coming soon (I hope). If we just could get Hybrid Assistant to work on connectivity and new data formats so that great app would work on the Rav4 Prime.
See slim pickings on Lane Assist ECU data;

Does this soft have access to such data?
Maybe? There are a lot of accelerator pedal data values. The few I have tried did not work fully as expected and I lost interest. Under the more common OBD data under TRIP in OBDLink app, I see accurate data on ‘number of (harsh braking, fast acceleration, …) for current trip only.

Below are some of many accelerator values scattered across the ECUs.

I got 200 screen prints (like above post) of ECU data values to try.
I’m having fun with HVAC / Heat pump values thrown onto a Dashboard. I’m seeing the most complicated HVAC system in operation at a very fine level. It is amazing how many variables it has to play with. I was surprised to see heating elements activating when I switched from HV to EV mode w/ HVAC heat initially feed by ICE. I guess it knew ICE-off means more/start heat-pump use and I think heating may be priming something.

Vehicle Control History (VCH) is not Live data at this point in time.
Note.
"...(a) The vehicle control history is a function that records control data (record data) when triggered by specific vehicle behavior. When DTCs are not detected according to information provided by customers, by checking the vehicle control history, it is possible to gain a quantitative grasp on diagnostic information and the history can be used as a reference to proceed with malfunction diagnosis.
(b) The vehicle control history also stores image data when a specific trigger is set.
(c) The vehicle control history is recorded in different storage areas designated by trigger group and it is possible to save up to 140 items in total. If storage space runs out, the data is cleared from the oldest data first for the respective storage area and new data is recorded.
(d) Each trigger receives time information from the main body ECU (time elapsed since ignition switch turned to ON) or the navigation system* (absolute time). *: Only for factory-installed navigation systems (factory option)
(e) Data is recorded in the airbag ECU assembly EEPROM. Even if the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal is disconnected, the vehicle control history does not disappear. Also, data cannot be cleared using the Techstream.
(f) The image data is stored in the camera sensor EEPROM...".
VCH consists of two types of information, system initiated information and driver initiated information. VCH data stored in the airbag ECU cannot be erased. Individual ECUs can store both driver initiated and system initiated information. X codes* can be set for driver initiated and/or system initiated information. Since X codes can be set with or without a DTC set, and there are many ECUs on newer vehicles to search for VCH information, there is a need for a signal that this information has been stored.

Questions.
1. Do you plan to implement Air Conditioner Active Test capabilities?
2. Do need a for RAV4 Prime 2021 - 2022 MY full Data List and Active Test of Air Conditioner by Techstream?
3. It is planned to introduce the ability to select / change Customize Parameters?

1. Maybe? How do you implement Air Conditional Active Test capabilities? I need to read up on this.
2. I have run TechStream on past Toyota vehicles, but I don’t like how hard it is to get running and the shady aspects of the software. I’ll just wait for the 3rd party apps to catch up or find a friend with a running version.
3. Contact the developer if you want to ask about future OBDLink features. I don’t see an Active Test selection under construction on OBDLink. Carista Beta has a list of DIY services procedures it can perform, but I have not had reason to experiment with them yet. Carista beta app also has ability to select/change customizable parameters a lot like TechStream (even FOB Door Unlock Press-Hold to open all windows and sunroof).

That's the one I run! (the MX+) Except I was having problems finding the R4P specific PIDs. (I generally use Torque as the display)

Really, the values that interest me are

MG1/MG2/MGR/engine RPM
HV batt % / temp
Yes, I was trying everything (except TS) to get more/most R4P PID/gauges. Then I took the time to registered my MX+ on OBDLink app and it open new option to load year/manufacture specific PIDs and OBD Network A and B.

I will make a DashBoard with those values you listed. They show off the Synergy Drive workings well. Here are some of your values (in park = lots of zeros) on a test DashBoard;

Now I gotta hunt down the battery temp sensor values.

Here are screen shots of most/all current data items from OBDLink in Google drive;

It is endless pages of data items. Find ECUs that you are interested in and see what data your R4Prime is using/tracking. Then spend hours setting up Dashboards and gauges to see the data in real time. The new Network B feels like it is still being worked on to access more/fully, so don’t expect much from Network B … yet.

Anybody else playing with this app?

It’s slow going. Remember to take screen videos of good OBDLink Dashboards in action. Search how to capture screen videos on your OS/device.

Hi my 2021 rav4 prime SE threw a check engine light 8 hours before i was going to leave for a 1000 mi trip. None of my ODB readers would read or even show the code. THe service advisor at TOyota hooked up his scanner which also didn't show any code. THe RAV4 then went into the service department where they did find the code. Turned out to be a problem with the battery cooling circuit for which there was a service bulletin. I there an ODB reader that would read all these codes and have all the cool displays that Chazz8 was showing ( word just say " this is my favorite " ) I think you are refering or still prefer the MX+? Is that is the dongle that reads most/ preferabley all the prime's codes and has all the cool displays? What is the name of the app that pairs with the dongle?

Please tell us which code was read, what data of Health Check Results and let me know the number of the bulletin* that was applied.
* Is that bulletin for DTC P1C0F96 and/or P1BF862 or for DTC P0CDF72 or maybe for DTC P1CCC96 ?
