So I decided to try out the 12.3" TopDisplay replacement Android stereo. Installed it and tried it out for a few weeks, but it's just not going to work for me.
I was in contact with Michael at TopDisplay the entire time I tried it out and he even sent me a new .apk for Android Auto, but that didn't help. AA keep cutting out. I think Skyler had the same issue, but with CarPlay. To test it out, I put back the original stereo and ran AA for a day and not once did it drop off. (I usually just use the built-in SiriusXM). Michael wanted me to get a SIM card to get it to work, but I didn't want to spend extra money monthly on my cell plan. It was really flaky with connection, I had to use my hotspot on my phone to get it to work, I shouldn't have to do that.
The best part of the stereo was the EQ on it, in all the years I've installed my own stereo's (generally Pioneer), I've never seen all the EQ options as I've seen on this stereo.
So in the end, I just cannot recommend this stereo replacement to anyone.
