@brentkwhitley Your additional work on your RAV is an inspiration for me! I bought the same Rav4, absolutely identical to yours. Same engine, same year, same color. It was imported from Quebec, Canada last year (Jan, 2021). The guy who sold it to me had installed an LPG system as well. Here in Europe a lot of cars run on LPG. I bought two tire kits for summer and winter. This is the summer one. The winter kit is with the original Rav metal rims. Here in Europe it's not so easy to find parts for American and Canadian Toyotas. Most of the parts are not identical with the European Toyota cars either. Where did you get the towing hooks from? I got my car without them. I am not sure if there is a pair hidden somewhere in the interior but i looked everywhere possible. Or maybe that's an aftermarket purchase only? Here is my princess.

The front how hooks are the OE tow hooks (loops) and D rings. Check the area where the jack is at, might be in a pouch.
I also did these toe hooks but my Rav didn't have the OE tow hooks, I purchased the pair through a Toyota dealer where I take my Rav for servicing them.
The tow hooks cost me $39ea (pre-pandemic tho). The D rings i got on Amazon for $20 (or $25, I can't remember) for a pair.
Hope this helps

@MC4D Yes, i've pened the panels where the jack is hidden in the trunk but there weren't any OE tow hooks there, just the jack. Probably my Rav came without these. Will ask my mechanics to purchase OE hooks for me.

Sick build. How do you like the H&R lift springs? Since the front is lifted twice as much as the rear, does it have a slight squat?
It does have a slight squat (pretty sure kit was designed for the v6) I kind of like the look tho. Re-aimed headlights down a bit. I ordered some 20mm rear coil spacers that I might install if they seem secure

yeah OE tow hooks from Toyota, mine came with one in the jack/lug wrench bag, bought a second from Toyota. Installed 3/8” shackles and rubber isolators so they hang straight.

This is one of the only “soft-roading” 3rd gen rav4 builds I’ve seen that’s not a v6. Does the lesser horsepower/torque of the 4-cyl model ever limit you in your excursions? Like obstacles you can’t get over, hills you can’t climb, or getting stuck more easily? Thanks :)

Since there’s no low range / real 4wd or lockers I don’t plan on putting myself being in a situation where I don’t have enough power, it handles dirt trails / inclines with no problem as long as I have a little momentum. Having too much power makes it more likely to break traction. Can’t “crawl” even with the v6, but I could see it doing much better in sand. I just put it in first gear, disable Trac and VSC and use the 4WD lock and it does great. Disconnecting sway bars and lowering tire pressure would make it more capable, planning on testing it out on some more serious trails next year.

Hello Brent, that's a nice build you have, i really like it... i just ordered the 30mm H&R springs to be installed in some KYB Excel G shocks... i have the 2007 2.0 VVTI version for europe, that brings a 5-speed manual and the same AWD system as the USA has...

I have a question for you, if you can... what camber bolts did you installed? any idea how to search for them? do you have any pictures?

thank you in advance

Something I've been wondering is; removing the front sway bar and adding a front strut bar (2pc like the ultra racing) will keep the handling. Give the front more articulation and try to compensate the handling with a front strut bar? 🤔
Strut bar / stiffener has different effect than the anti-sway bar. Driving on the road without a sway bar means vehicle will roll more around turns and is dangerous if you had to avoid something at high speeds, not generally a good idea.

Thank you very much for your reply, do they look like these? Did you need to do anything else or they are a direct install? View attachment 186800
yeah that’s right type of bolt. Make sure the shop knows how to actually use them, I just set them to full negative, torqued and told the shop to not adjust front camber. Ended up with -0.1 on both sides.

I love your setup. Just recently got a 2011 rav4 limited. How have you been liking those tires? they look great might consider them for myself.
I also love the paint job on the rims. what products did you use to get that matte finish?

I need to replace my rear shock since they are leaking. Would you recommend I just use OEM products or bilstein products.
Thanks

After breaking the tires in they are a little noisy on rougher asphalt but have been holding up great and should last a while.

I used rust-oleum matte black spray paint for the rims and a clear coat.

I used cheaper Monroe OE Spectrum shocks for the rear, ride great but only been on for 6 months so can't speak to reliability. Not difficult to replace since I don't have rusted bolts.

Regarding the front tow eyelets (not the red shackles), have you used them? Do you have any idea what load they're rated for? The standard tow hooks/eyelets are NOT recovery rated as far as I know and everyone I hear from says not to use them if you're stuck. I understand the reason, but having two equalised together minimises the chance of failure. I'm interested in views from as many people possible, and you look like you've set them up for recovery. I'm considering a handwinch for the rare occasions I get stuck alone, or need to be towed out. It's not for serious off-roading obviosuly so I'm not going to be stuck in 4 foot deep mud! But to have an idea of the load rating of those towing points could be useful. Thanks.
