Rav-4 Prime SE 2021

Look at the picture. When I left my cottage the message appeared at the bottom of the display.
A bit later I noticed Check Engine. Checked under the vehicle, opened the hood to check smell or noise. Nothing. Double check all doors. Drove 3 km, rechecked, drove 12km rechecked, drove 20km, rechecked, drove home (total 120km). Home a cheap OBD code reader said 0 code registered. I Pressed the clear button. Check engine disappeared but camera display stayed the same. Drove around the block, check engine did not come back. I hope I did not goof resetting check engine. I drove in EV and HV modes alternatively.

What would be the meaning of the message in the display. Maybe some radar or sensor are defectives.

"Check Surroundings for Safety" is a message that is always displayed on every Toyota when the rear camera is on. That's always been the case. It's an instruction to tell you to use good driving technique and look all around you, rather than just stare at the screen while backing up.

The Check Engine Light you had was completely unrelated and should be explored further.
