These GeoTour Tires that were manufactured Week 6 2020 that were new when the 2018 RAV4 was purchased in November of 2020 Certified Pre-Owned, seem to be cracking in between the tread and elsewhere.

Does not seem normal. These are cheap tires. Any opinions would be appreciated. See pics. Please enlarge to see more detail. Thank you.

what is the exact brand on these?
snap a pix of the mfg lettering.
have you reached out to the dealer or the mfg yet?
yea lot's of stuff could go wrong in the mfg of tires...
they blend the rubber to a mix.
so if it is over cooked it will do this.

years past firestone hand an issue like this back in late 1980's on the 500 series as well as cooper on the trendsetter 2 tires a few years later.
bad mix of rubber blend. hard soft spots and separation of belts etc.
BIG safety recall on those brands back in the day.
most good tire mfg's will step up to the plate and make it right.

so how many miles are on the tires?
you might want to take a tread depth measurement as well.

GeoTour brand tires. Came new on Certified Pre-Owned 2018 Rav 4.
Tires have plenty of tread left on them. They have been driven 25,000 miles approx.

They are 2 1/2 years old. Have not reached out to dealer. Buying this car from dealer in mid-pandemic was a very bad experience as the sales people were unscrupulous.

Should they be replaced?

Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. makes those tires.

i did not see any super deep splits or super bad spots in the pix...
but a cam might not pick up what you see.
look for deep fissures like over 1/32 of an inch deep like a rubber split to the cord.

if you have a real good trusted tire guy in your area have him take a close look.
or a mechanic who does not sell parts.

i like the brand named tires...
but that is just me.
lot's of good tires out there.

Am no expert but the only situation I see is what appears to be a slight tire manufacturing moulding imperfection between two treads in the second photo which does not appear to actually penetrate the outer rubber. Unless there is something which I cannot see I would continue to use the tires. I have run tires with more similar imperfections for miles and years with no problems until the tread was worn to the wear bars.

who knows ? could have been stored or parked near an ozone source (electric motor)
which greatly speeds up any surface cracking

the amount of cracking on those is a non-issue though. I'd be tossing those tires out not because
of cracking but because imho not a good tire in the first place

This is a common problem with old tires and if the sidewall fails it can result in a complete blowout and and accident. I had 2 of 4 tires that has bead failures and this resulted in erratic performance when driving that was much like having a tire way out of balance.
