Noticed on my rear hatch button there's a smaller button to the right, pressed it doesn't seem to do anything?
That it starts to open then stops, I suspect that it is sensing unexpected resistance and stopping in case it is hitting something. There have been reports of the hinges breaking which changes the pivot point and increases the resistance. I would start looking there.Somewhat related question: Recently my back door button (as well as the back door button on the remote) will fail occasionally. The door will unlock and move about one inch but fail to open further. I have to use my muscles to push the door completely open. After I manually close the door, then immediately the button on the car and on the remote work properly. This has only happened in the last 1-2 weeks, but it has happened on two or three different days. On most days, there is no problem at all. Maybe it has something to do with the recent cold weather, but I live in California, and the overnight temperatures barely hit freezing, if at all.
Anyone else seen this problem?
The button seems to be working fine. The problem seems to be that the door stops opening. It seems like there is moisture on the rubber seals that freezes and prevents the motor from opening the door. Try applying a lubricant like silicone to the rubber seal to help prevent water from staying on the seal.Somewhat related question: Recently my back door button (as well as the back door button on the remote) will fail occasionally.
