Here's a better solution- just get a taller cup of coffee that is taller than the cup holder. Problem solved. You're welcome.
It is not just the height of the cup but the width of the top.

We just spent over 50K on a car. Paying under $10 for a set of 6 nice looking coasters is a much better idea than stuffing in some folded napkins.
Ah but you see, spending all that money on the car is why you need to save where you can! napkins ftw! :p

The Starbucks cup fitment is, funny enough, a serious problem on this car. I used napkins and while ugly I found that the immediate sopping up of spills is handy, given how loose some coffee lids are. Maybe I should just find some fancy black napkins to fold in there

On our trip this weekend, we stopped at a Starbucks for two drinks and discovered a problem - the front cupholders are so deep that the lids go inside, making it hard to get the cup out, and making it likely that the lid will pop off. It is even worse when you get two coffees. Anyone found a solution (other than bringing your own cup that fits better)?
we put two Tic Tac containers in the bottom, works lifted the cups to the right level. CHEAP solution

The cupholder problem you encountered at Starbucks can be frustrating, especially when you have multiple drinks. One solution, apart from bringing your own cups, could be using silicone cupcake liners or small silicone coasters placed at the bottom of the cupholders. This can help elevate the cups slightly and prevent the lids from going too deep, making it easier to retrieve your drinks and reducing the chances of the lids popping off. It's a simple and cost-effective workaround for this common issue.

Another cup holder issue is, the holders are too close together. Standard common Hefty cups will not fit next to eachother. I use some tall hard plastic glasses but I still like the idea of the disposable ones. Don't have to clean them all the time on trips.

Y'all 4.5 guys play too much  at least Toyota gave you guys 2 cupholders up front!

The first RAV4s in 96 and 97, you had to pay $195 for the Convenience Package on the RAV4 which included an extra cupholder attached to an optional center console, floor mats, and rear door-mounted storage bags. If you didn't, you had 1 cupholder which basically only fit sodas. The extra cupholder for these 2 years is no longer made by Toyota, extremely difficult to find secondhand, very flimsy so it breaks easily, and isn't even in the front! It's a flip down cupholder in the back of the optional center console that often breaks if not flipped back up when not in use and rear passengers kick or step on it.

Wasn't until 1998 2 cupholders up front became a standard RAV4 feature. Silly thing about these cupholders though is that access to the cigarette lighter is blocked when 2 drinks occupy the cupholders  On these old cars, a USB cigarette lighter charger is just about the most practical way to charge a phone so Toyota cupholders have a history of taking Ls lol

Don't get me started on the 96-98 4runner Intial D style cupholder, which blocks the clock & AC controls, and spills liquids onto your shifter 😭😭😭

Just carry your own coffee cups ( better for the environment as well !)
