Just checking in on my results with haul capacity...brand new washing machine fits fine

did the dimensions math on Toyota site for rav4 specs and LG site first...
------------------

with back seats flipped forward

LG front loader washer in it's shipping box, fit just fine into my rav4.
lg-wm3400cw-front-load-washer

top clearance of hatch opening was about 1 inch, but it pushed forward enough with plenty
of room to close hatch and be away from the glass...
and there was room at the back and behind the front seats.

so yeah it can fit a washing machine no problem

Reminds me of buying a washing machine for my son who lives on a rough dirt road on Maui. Found a new one in Kahului on CL and was wondering if it would fit in our rental 2018 Equinox before I made the trip. The guy kept asking me what vehicle we had but I insisted on the machine's boxed dimensions. Once he gave them to me I knew it would fit but just barely. It did.

Regarding the weight of the washing machine there would be no problem. Only situation when using our RAV4 to haul appliances was once when I had to remove the appliance from its box to have it fit through the rear opening.

if shipping bolts are in place and drum is secure then on the side is OK for moving easy.
...say, getting from store to house
not on the front and not the back, just sides

upright only for commercial shipping.

no shipping bolts, then upright only

fridges can be shipped on sides but need 24 hours upright and unplugged
for the refrigerant to settle and debubble before plugging in

You would be surprised what can fit in back of an suv. Once delivered a large hardwood dining room table and six chairs to my daughter in an 05 Toyota Matrix. Back seats down and hatch closed. It had a rugged non carpet floor and several D ring anchors in storage area. Something our current rav4 lacks. Amazing versatility for a small car. Daughter liked it so much she borrowed it and never brought it back! Her and her husband have been Toyota fans ever since.
