Just purchased a 2023 Rav4 Hybrid Limited. The instrument cluster is so dim during daytime I can barely read anything in the display. Yes I have the adjustment set on max brightness. Is there any other way to increase the brightness of this display?
The instrument brightness knob has a detent just before max. Be sure you rotate the adjustment beyond that detent.

I have it on auto now. But I did try turning headlights on. Didn't help. Will try parking light option when wife gets home with vehicle. Thanks
Parking lights or regular headlights should change it. Send a picture. I’m hard pressed to think it’s defective. I would think that something like that would be caught during pre sale inspection but who knows.

For all the new rav 4 dash videos that are on YouTube do they appear about the same or not even close to yours?

Which dash do you have? My '23 has the 12.5" all digital dash, and it is plenty bright enough.

The manual does indicate that turning on the lights during the daytime will not switch to nighttime brightness for the instrument panel.

Is the light sensor blocked?

This morning I backed the car out on the driveway from the garage and checked the display brightness. Seems to be OK, the weather was not quite as clear and sunny as yesterday, there are some clouds. But it is still daylight conditions.

I found that even in daylight (headlight control set to AUTO), the brightness control still works. I thought I had read that it only works when you have the lights on and in the daytime it does nothing, but that's not the case in our vehicle. I will try leaving it set to max brightness (above the detent) during the day and see how it goes. This would require manually turning it down every time the car is driven at night and then turning it back up for the next daytime drive.

Was there any solution to your issue? We have exactly the same issue with a brand new 2024 model. If this is serious enough and no solution is found, there may be more options being on a level of recalls.

This does seem to be specific to clear sunny days around 1 pm or noon. When you have to wear sunglasses on top of the dim display there is certainly a potential for driving issues if not dangerous circumstances to occur.

We noticed the same problem with our new RAV4 today - speedometer, etc are very dim during the daytime. Almost a safety hazard. We had the brightness control all the way up and past the detent.

No solution in our case. The only thing that's really readable during Sunny days with sunglasses on is the large-ish digital speed display. My wife drives the RAV4 99% of the time now and I think she has just gotten used to the dim display.

It may be the sunglasses if they have polarized lenses they can block the light from just certian directions. Most try to block glare from below eye level, like glare from a body of water.

I have same problem with 2014 RAV. Only had problem last 18 months. Is there a bulb there that might have worn out? It's a big problem and I won't get another RAV
The 4th generation had a problem with the instruments being hard to see. There were many complaints about it when I owned my 2013 on the Toyota "ask and owner" web site.

The 5th generation is really good compared to the 4th.
