I purchased a 2010 Rav with 175k from a Toyota dealership. Clean car fax and all services have been done at the dealership. Oil change sticker shows next change at 180k am at 177k but the Maintenance Required light started blinking and is now solid last week. I only drive twice a week so I'm not racking up miles. I'm not into auto repair stuff besides checking oil and changing tires so I got a code reader and the car showing clean no codes at all. Any suggestions on the reason for the Maintenance Required light? I have a 5mo 5k warranty on the power train and transmission so I do want to miss an opportunity to get something fixed.
Thanks

The maintenance required light comes on automatically every 5000 miles as a reminder to get your oil changed and any other maintenance shown in the maintenance schedule. It is not an indication of a problem.

Once the maintenance is done, the service technician should reset the light, but if not, you can reset it according to the instructions in the owners manual. It would appear that the dealership did not reset the light when they serviced it at 175K.

The light also will come on if the gasoline cap is not properly tightened or the seal is defective.

It is a oil change reminder light. Starts flashing around 4750 mile interval and stays lite at 5K. To reset (this is from memory so might be wrong): shut car off when ODO on trip A. Turn car on (but do not start) while holding down the ODO select knob. It will flash (lines start to disappear). Maintance light reset. When the oil is changed, you should reset the light again so that you have the full 5K before the light comes back on.

That is an oil change or tire rotation notice. It is governed by time from last reset or miles from last reset.
They might want you to come in just so they can charge you to check the floor mats while upselling you unnecessary services.

Just turn on the ignition key, not necessary to start the engine. Tap the odometer button on the speedometer until it shows “Trip 1”. Turn the key back off and while holding the odometer button down, turn the key back on. Keep holding the odometer button down until all the dashes in the display count down and disappear. Release the button. Now your oil change reminder light is reset for another 5,000 miles.

My owner's manual has a simpler, easier, procedure to reset it.
1. Go to the vehicle settings on the MID. Press and hold "OK"
2. Select "scheduled maintenance" and press "OK"

Your method is for a 4.5 whereas WJ's is how you reset the light on a 4.3 this thread's topic.
