I have a 2019 rav4 xle premium, gas. I want to change my stock mirror switch (unlighted) to a lighted one that also controls my auto-folding mirrors. I need to know what type and what size "Molex" terminal connectors are needed for the mirror trigger/connector. Thanks as always.

I did this mod here on the forums on my 2020. You can just purchase the part for a 2022 and it is plug and play, the molex connector is already pinned with the illumination wires and the 2022 part will illuminate with no mods needed.

Make sure you get a 2022 though, in 2023 the backlights on all the buttons in the cabin have been changed to white, not the old soft blue.

If you live near VA I have a 2022 OEM mirror switch from when I modded my 2020 that I would sell, it was used for less than a year before I traded it on a 2023.

I also have the entire set of window and door lock illumination switches (including OEM passenger front door lock).

Note: If you want the type with the folding mirror switch, you will probably have to have it imported from a country where the Rav4s have the factory folding mirrors.

The OP wants a switch also for folding mirrors, not just illumination.

As I understand it, the AliExpress folding mirror kit comes with a switch modification for the folding mirrors in the outside mirror switch.

The CarTrimHome folding mirror kit comes with a switch that mounts in a spare place on the dash panel to the left of the steering wheel.

hey fk got link for that?

I'll get to your immediate question in a bit.

Thoughts on the OP's post:

1. Toyota does not use "Molex" brand connectors; they use their own connectors which are unique in that they have a double lock system for the wire pins, a primary lock, and a secondary lock. This document lists many of those connector housings and the repair wires with pins that fit them: RAV4 Wiring harness repair manual

2. On early 5th generation RAV4 driver's side unlit door mirror switch, there is a Toyota OEM lighted switch that is a direct replacement for the unlit switch, thus uses the same connector (you don't have to buy a new connector, nor do any wiring mods). The part number is 84872-30070. It just happens that it also includes a switch for folding mirrors, but that will not work on the RAV because there is no wiring in the car for that function.

3. (FYI, the part number for the connector housing for the drivers side mirror switch is 90980-12404. I guess it may be possible to get the repair wires with pins for that connector housing, and put them in the proper places in the housing to access the folding mirror switches. I do not know the position number in the housing, or how you would run the wires to the folding mirror controller which is usually placed under the dash.)

4. Now to your immediate question: It is easy to do a search on the AliExpress web site for what you want. There are several vendors there that have the folding mirrors for the RAV4. Here is one: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803813893341.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.13.750667cabySQW3&algo_pvid=a88a990a-ced5-4bd9-ad28-fe071558aa16&algo_exp_id=a88a990a-ced5-4bd9-ad28-fe071558aa)16-6&pdp_npi=4@dis!USD!590.00!289.1!!!590.00!!@2101df8a16919437754378874e5825!12000027696146622!sea!US!837135326!&curPageLogUid=F8Pm38VsxlkV But I see no installation instructions; taking apart the door panels and dismantling the dash is not for the faint of heart. My experience with AliExpress is very slow shipping (slow boat from China), and poor customer support (they are really the middle man from a variety of vendors).

Edit: Keep in mind that the folding mirror kit from AliExpress fits the existing unlit mirror switch, thus may not be what the OP wants.

Thus my personal preference would be the CarTrimHome folding mirrors with the switch in the dash: Not suitable for Limited!!!Free Shipping automatic folding - unfolding mechanism mirrors For Toyota RAV4 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023 without 360 camera They ship quick from the US, have video instructions, and good customer support.

Thanks for all the replies. I checked the mirror switch connector on my rav4 and only the wires already inserted on the connector have metal pins. So, I can't reuse any from that. I already installed the car trim home kit. I am using the included button that is installed on the dummy slot among the other working ones on the underside of the dash (left of the steering wheel). Through trial and error, I can find which pin slots to work with. I just need to know what type and size pins are needed (and now, how to remove/install Toyota's pins). I may have to search salvage yards to find a harness connector and reuse from that. I want to use the slot currently housing the car trim home button for a on/off button for my raptor lights. I don't want them on all the time.

Use the RAV4 wiring harness repair manual I cited in post #6 above.

It shows what repair wires with pins are used for each type of connector. It also shows how to remove and install wires in a connector. To remove, you will need the special tool cited in that manual.

It also has a tutorial on the dual lock (primary and secondary) system used for Toyota connectors. Usually, the secondary lock is a bar on the side of the connector, but you will need the special tool to release the primary lock on the wire pin.

That manual has all you need to know.

The wires with wire pins are readily available at your Toyota dealer on online (Ebay, AliExpress, etc).

The chart you mentioned is very unlegible. I tried increasing the size to as far as 500% with no luck. If anyone can make out the part numbers or can find a clearer chart, it would be very helpful.
Since that is a PDF document, try a different PDF program. I use FoxIt and it looks good to me. Sometimes Adobe Acrobat has problems.
