It has been a while since I have used it, but I seem to remember that it rolled down the windows first, and you had to keep pressing the button on the fob. If you released the button on the fob, it would stop with the windows partially down. If you do keep the fob button pressed long enough to fully roll down the windows, it would start opening the moonroof, with the same release to stop action.

I wish I could also roll up the windows from the fob. It would be nice to roll the windows down to release the hot air, then roll them back up and remote start the car to run the AC before I get in.

I am curious, what is the advantage of this feature, especially with the mechanical key? In what kind of situations would you use this feature?
If you open all the windows before you get in, it will cool down the inside some so it is not so blazingly hot inside.

Yes, I follow that.

But what I don't exactly follow is why would you want close all the windows like this? Wouldn't it typically be that you would: open all of the windows with the remote key fob, let the car cabin air out and cool down, climb in the car and drive away, and then close all or some windows as needed while in motion?

Then, why would you want to do this with the mechanical key, vs just with the wireless smart key?

The advantage of closing the windows with a mechanical key is that it puts the operator in close contact with the car, thus reducing the chances of inflicting a problem on someone or their pet as the windows close. It's a safety thing.

Can it be configured for windows only but not moonroof?
No. It was ON or OFF and it does all 4 windows and moonroof at the same time.

Yes the roll up all windows/moonroof using the FOB would be a safety thing but why to the mechanical key(?) Not sure. Ya I guess you are right beside the vehicle. Saves a bit of time I guess if the windows are down and you want to lock it up for the night. Saves from turning on the ignition and closing all the windows.

My older Lexus allows the key fob to put all windows down and the sunroof. My prime now has it too as I had dealer reprogram the fob. The manual will tell you take it to the dealer for this. So, if you don’t want to do it yourself, there is the option.

Can you configure being able to unhook the charging cable without having to have the key fob and press the unlock button? I charge my Prime overnight and in the morning I have to take the keys with me to unlock the charging cable.

Oh wow. I was driving myself absolutely insane this weekend trying to figure out why the rear air wasn’t blowing. My small-ish dog was in the backseat and I wanted to keep him cool and I practically tore the car apart trying to figure out how to get the fan blowing.
I had thought the button on the right side of climate control pushbuttons would turn off the S-Flow. Yes? No?

I'm just glad it has the windows all down capability. I try to do it a few minutes before I leave my place. It makes a big difference in the temperature when I get in the car.

You can change the cable locking mode in the car settings.

Any suggestions or ideas about what other rav4P settings you would consider modifying?
Today I changed the "range" of the ultrasonic sensors. The goal is to eliminate the warnings as I enter/exit the garage. I also reduced the volume of the warning. This is the menu screen from TechStream.

Many people complain about the charge port lock. I have no issue with it. When I walk into my garage to unplug all I do is put my hand on a door handle and it unlocks the charge port door (2021 XSE PP). I sometimes charge at public charging stations and I like that no one can arbitrarily end my charging session by pulling the cable out of my car.

On that subject of resetting every time we start the car... I really wish they had a setting to have the brake hold always come on when the car was started. Do they have that in the Techstream?
I don't remember seeing that as a option with Techstream.

I made several changes with Carista.

Eliminate seat belt chime.
Change lane change from 3 blinks to 7.
Enable window open and moonroof open with long press unlock on fob.
Increase turn signal volume to max. (I'm old!!!)
Disable S-Flow
Lock/unlock beep off
PBD open/close beep off
Related question: if I make a bunch of changes with my carista device and then, say, a week later I have the 12v battery disconnected for a while (10 minutes plus/minus), will the car's software or firmware remember all of the customization settings that I have made on the rav4P with the carista, or will they all return to factory default settings or whatever?

My understanding is that Techstream is not officially available for end users like us.
Techstream is a Toyota dealer specific tool not available to the public.
That’s not true. You can get a subscription directly from Toyota.

Is techstream something a random owner can find and buy for a reasonable price? Is a subscription required?
Depends what you consider a reasonable price. Toyota charges $70 for a 2-day license or $1360 for a year.

I didn't think end users could get the "Professional Diagnostic" subscription. There still is the issue of needing the $1545 Techstream Lite cable (which does come with a one year Professional Diagnostic subscription). Maybe it was black market cables I had heard about.
