I’m not holding my breath.

I did try to plug in when I saw the issue yesterday and it immediately cleared up so at least I have some workaround (think someone mentioned this method earlier in this thread). I have seen various claims that maybe it only works if you start on Bluetooth and then plug in after connecting. But, haven’t verified that yet.

Maybe a late duplicate...My 2021 XLE Hybrid (wired) CarPlay screen worked very well for years until I recently replaced my ancient iPhone 6S Plus with an iPhone 15 Pro Max with latest IOS 17.1.1, then nothing.... After investigating almost every possible solution including latest wireless streaming video adapters, I just tried my best USB-C male to USB-A male (faster v3.1 data) wire, and it works fine so I have decided to keep using the USB-C wired cable plugged into the new phone to charge it while driving, just like before for safety with no streaming videos like Youtube, so I’m keeping the wires down to just one plug-in.

I guess I am just lucky or I just don't use CarPlay that much. I really only use it for Google Maps for navigation, as I do not have a data plan. I can use the Google Maps in offline mode. I have never been disconnected. I have a 2023 Rav4 Hybrid XLE and iPhone SE (2022) on iOS 17.1.1.

I wonder if there is any correlation with a specific app being used when these disconnects occur?

Are you using Carplay wireless or wired?

I have wired CarPlay in my 2021 and would not want wireless if for no other reason than Apple Music lossless files lose clarity over a Bluetooth connection so no thank you. If you can go wired do it, is my motto. True wireless is nice with earbuds/phone and maybe a couple of other use cases, but I say plug it in if you can and doesn’t look stupid.

An example would be with a streaming TV. Plug that into wired internet if you can hide the wires. Will always be more reliable. But in a car, where music quality is pretty important? Wired always.

Apple music in later CarPlay adapters like Carlinkit 5.0 and I assume in later Toyotas supper WiFi along with bluetooth. In fact my Carlinkit starts out in Bluetooth to make a connection then shift to WiFi for the Apple Music. Since I have all the music I listen to on the iPhone in Lossless format it transfers and plays in that format without a cable. The bandwidth for the WiFi is even bit as good as the USB-A cable that the car supports.

I don’t think Bluetooth supports Apple’s lossless format.

I tested with Android Auto Play and the maps worked perfectly.
To me this is evidence that this is not the Car rather the iPhone and Apple needs to fix this.
I have an open Apple case 102015126394 where we have completed some advanced logging and sent in video to support this issue. So far they have not provided any fixes that worked. Now they are looking for more evidence.
Anyone that has the time please open a support case, reference mine if that helps.
IMHO: Apple needs to fix this

Interesting that I have the JBL system in both my 2019 XSE and wife's 2020 XSE we had no real issues with ether car and Apple CarPlay navigation using WAZE, Google Maps, or Apple Maps. I not had trouble with theToyota map app I just don't care for it. I have used them both wireless with Carlinkit and USB cable. No real issues. Normally my phone stays in my left front blue jean pocket and connects wireless to the JBL infotainment system. BTW I'm currently using iPhone 14 Pro Max running iOS 17.2 Beta.

I have a question is the infotainment system in you Rav4 the standard system or the JBL system. both of my RAV4 XSE 2019 and 2020 have the JBL system and work great when wired and when wireless using the Linkit CarPlay adaptor. Wife's iPhone is a 13 pro running iOS 16 mine is a 14 pro max running iOS 17.0 beta.
I have a 2024 RAV4 XSE hybrid and the same thing with two phones being connected. My wife and I have Apple 13 Pros and SW all up to date and even went to Toyota. They said everything should work!! Still, issues so disconnected her completely and I have issues with my phone and need to disconnect and restart it at least once a week.

My wife has the iphone 13 Pro but doesn't have any issues with the 2024 Rav4 and I have iphone 15 Pro MAX with no problems.

Maybe try to unpair and pair it again.

Hey everyone!

calling out 2023 Rav 4 buyers experiencing carplay GPS issues connecting to wireless/wired carplay.
GPS location is way off. Looks like integration/projection issue from phone to infotainment

is it Apple issue or toyota’s ? Android auto wired and wireless works perfect so dies inbuilt navigation.

apple compatibility list does not include 2023 rav 4 in it?
I bought my 2023 Rav4 Limited in Nov 2023 and am still having issues with Apple carplay navigation. Did you all ever identify a reliable workaround or fix? I ended up paying for the Toyota navigation but it also screws up my location sometimes and impossible to use on the fly. The only reliable solution I've found is just disconnecting my phone from the system and using it for navigation propped up on my dash. This infuriates me in a brand-new car.

I have taken my car into the dealership twice now but since they can't replicate the problem they said there is nothing they can do. I have already opened a complaint with Toyota but they just say to keep going to dealership.

I saw something about replacing the Rav4 antenna? Does this fix the issue? Anyone have any success getting any fix from Toyota?

Appreciate any help or guidance you can give.

Did you try to update to the latest iOS release? If so, remove the bluetooth from vehicle and setup bluetooth again.

My CarPlay quit working. Did extensive troubleshooting, including trying various cables all of which had previously worked; tried a friend’s iPhone which previously worked in my car; followed online instructions to fix the issue. Nothing worked. Took to dealership. Repairman had a cable that worked until it got a “USB ERROR” on the screen and quit working. Then eventually worked again. Repairman said I should get a cable like his, but could not tell me what kind it was. Repair manager said I should get a genuine Apple cable. Gentleman who signed me out gave me a genuine Toyota cable, which is currently working. So, three different suggestions as to which cable to use, even though ALL mine worked previously. Repairman said they have been getting customers coming in regularly for many months with this issue. Yet, since the repairman’s cable worked, they do not consider this an issue to be looked into. Granted this may be an intermittent issue, it still needs to be fixed. All the cables that previously worked with my CarPlay, work in my home and work in my other vehicle with CarPlay, tells me that Toyota has a problem with either the USB outlet or something behind it. Time will tell. More than a little disappointed in Toyota at the moment. Never had an issue they could not fix until today.
