I have a 2007 rave4 4/4 it makes dull clunking noise sometimes turning corners or moving wheel quickly left to right spoke to toyato dealer he said he has 100 a year with same problem he said it was the steering spline but said don't worry it won't come apart does this sound right only just bought the car so I don't now the cars history

Yeah, the clunk comes from the steering intermediate shaft. Some people have resolved it by injecting grease or oil into the splines. Others like be have had the shaft replaced under warranty. Mine was replaced at 47K miles but around 65K the problem returned. I'm ignoring it for now. There was a TSB issued, but it's no longer available from this site since they changed to the Xenforo software.

Yep it's "normal," causes no harm and won't get worse. Our '06 has done it so long we don't even notice it anymore.

I did that old´s man youtube video FIX and it actually worked. I used all the materials he asked, although not really the kind of oil that it is need, the job was done, in the beginning the clank sound was much lower and suddenly, after month driving my wife asked me ¨Did you fixed that noise¨?

My 2 cents

I have created a video to help fix this common problem. Its a very simple fix and take about 5-10 minutes to repair, tools required are hook type tool and a can of CRC White Lithium grease or a similar Lithium grease product. I know it is an extremely annoying problem, this video is less than 2 minutes long and gets straight to the point.
