Still no key!! I was notified via the App on November 20th that I was eligible for the second key fob. Called the dealer November 21st, they confirmed my vehicle was eligible and placed the order. I checked back 2 weeks later and they said it was on back-order. I went to the dealership in-person yesterday (now 3+ weeks after ordering) and they said it was still on back-order!! Anyone else running into this??

No, I guess I was lucky. Chicago area dealership ordered the fob once I reached out and called them (after in-app notification) and then it came in within about a week. Made an appointment, told them to do nothing except program the new fob, car was ready in 30 minutes.

Side note: the car will have a 'new key programmed' message pop up on start up on the small dash display for 10 days after fob is added (rav4P SE). Lots of confusion from the dealership about that.

I received ours yesterday 12/14/23, it took about a week to get ordered and programmed, so not too bad. Well other than waiting several months. It was the typical, It'll take about 2hrs, but was finished in about 1 hr. Just happy to have it in hand. Not sure why some are on back order after they sent you a notice that it's available.

I just took delivery of my R4P last week (one fob of course). My dealer said due to “chip shortages” Toyota only issue one fob at time of sale. They said it‘ll take 3-6 months for the second fob to arrive.

I‘ll keep my eye on the APP, thanks for that heads up.

I took delivery of my RAV4 Prime 5 weeks ago. Last week I received the Service Campaign Notice in the app and scheduled an appointment in two weeks. I will be calling my dealer to confirm they received the key before going in for the appointment. I suspect that either the supply chain for the keys experienced a Christmas Miracle and got caught up or there was a screw up notifying me way too fast and I will be waiting for several more months.

Given that some might say that getting my R4P was, in itself, a miracle, I suspect I will be waiting a while for the key.

I suggest you call your dealer ASAP. I believe the way this works (at least this is how it's working for me) is you contact the dealer of your choice (like me, it sounds like you are using the dealer you purchased from) and they first confirm you are eligible for the second key. They will then place an order for the key and when it comes in, they will set up an appointment to program the key. They placed the order for my key back on November 21st and they informed me it is on back-order and as of today (December 26th) they still have not received the key!! Just an FYI...

Thanks. I called my dealer's Service Dept. They said the Parts Dept would order the 2nd key and it would arrive in a few days. Then Service would call to schedule an appointment. Given what you and others have posted about 2nd Keys, I expect to be waiting a good long while.

Got my Key Fob notice on the Toyota app last week, and immidiately called my Toyota dealer. They set up an appointment in less than a week and got my 2nd Fob yesterday. About 2 1/2 months after purchasing my RAV4 Prime.
You need to pay attention to Toyota notices to get your fob sooner than later.

As you can see, I've made several posts here about my "second key" saga and finally got tired of the "back-order" excuse (Twice on the phone and once in person) from the dealer for the last month+ and yesterday called Toyota Customer Service which they call the "Toyota Brand Engagement Center." Gave them the story (told them I contacted the dealer on November 21st and they (supposedly) placed the order for the key. So the TBEC placed me on hold and they contacted the dealer to see what was happening. She comes back on the line and the dealer told her they placed the order on December 14th and it's still back-order!! I kept my cool (I realize this isn't her fault) and she told them what I had said about when I ordered it, etc, etc. Long story short; they opened a case with the whole story explained and my case was getting referred to the Toyota headquarters parts division to see what they can do. Anyway, good luck to everyone and I hope you don't have problems like what I'm having.

WOW !! I just don't understand how something so easy can be so TROUBLE SOME.
Sorry for your FOB problem, shouldn't be !!!
Where are you located ?
Here in CA. I was notified by Toyota App to make appointment , 2days later & 1hr at the Dealer , i was out of there.
Yeah, really; I don't get it. I'm in Oklahoma City and they get very few RAV4 Prime vehicles here for whatever reason, not that this makes a difference (it shouldn't), and this is the dealer I purchased the car from!! California and larger East Coast cities seem to get the bulk them, at least that's how it seemed when I started looking to buy. Oh well, this "Toyota Brand Engagement Center" seemed like they knew what to do, detailing the whole story in the case record, and gave me a case number so I can follow up easily to get a status. I'll give them 2 weeks and we'll see what happens next...

I just picked up my second key fob yesterday. 25 mins - in and out. Now, though, I keep getting a message on the display saying “A new key has been registered for your vehicle. Please contact your dealer”. And the App still has the notification telling me to call the dealer for the second key fob.

The MID notice stays for 10 days and then clears. The app notice will clear itself eventually - once the fix has been reported to Toyota and everything gets updated.

It's me again... Still no second key FOB. (Dealer notified November 21st to order the key; this is the day after I received notification on my Toyota App that I was eligible for the second key). Just got off the phone with my dealer's parts department AGAIN with the same story "It's on back-order." Also I was given the same story that they all have different part numbers. I understand that different models would likely have different part numbers, but I believe all the "RAV4 Prime" models would have the same part number (maybe SE and XSE have different part numbers??). Anyway, called the "Toyota Brand Engagement Center" with my case number that I got from them 2 weeks ago and told them again what my dealer said but they weren't much help this time. They said they will contact the dealer again and if I don't hear back from the dealer in 3 days to call them (Toyota Brand Engagement Center) back and they will elevate the case. It's not like the car is the problem, it's just frustrating that something this simple has been lingering for almost 2 months now!!

Request: If some of you don't mind, would you look at your service invoice for when you had your second key programed and post the part number, if it's there, for your key FOB? THANKS, I would greatly appreciate it.

I was able to book the appointment right after I received the app notification. The work was done Nov 29, '23.

FOB part number is 04002-99258

What's perplexing is that aside from the 2nd key, they reportedly replaced an air bag. No part number given for that,
