Did it work? I did the same thing. Flushed the trans fluid n filled up but whining still there
Take it to the dealership, if youre still in warranty. Not sure whats causing this but dealer said theyre replacing the trans. Doesn't seem to affect anything, i still shift fine and no issues with driving just very annoying

The dealerships don't replace trans unless Toyota agreed to pay for it. If that's the case then Toyota knows there's an issue.
Yupp, dealership had to put in a TAS case to toyota. Toyota approved the trans+Torque converter next day, dropped the car off tuesday afternoon was put in a loaner 4runner, and should be getting it back today. I mentioned the dealership because it sounds like some are too lazy to put in the TAS case to get approval.

Not sure how big the issue is or if its just a few bad apples. I drive mostly highway with the occasional towing to make dump-runs around 1000lbs total. no issues with gears just the annoying noise which i assumed was from the torque converter. glad i took it in though because I just passed the 60k warranty and they covered it in full.

Does this model use the UA80? If so, sounds like Toyota needs to add more models to the ZJC Customer Support Program. This while is present in Siennas and Higlanders with the UA80 starting in 2017 and up to 2019 MYs. One should not surprised when issues arise after not changing your transmission fluid @ 130.000 kms !
.....

These Aisin Transmission can last a very long time without any issue IF PROPERLY MAINTAINED. which yours has not unfortunately
I finally did a drain-and-refill of transmission fluid at 110,000 miles, with genuine Toyota fluid. I got about 3.5 quarts out. I plan to do another drain-and-refill after a few thousand more miles. The noise is definitely quieter than it was, but it's still there if I remember to listen for it.

I have this same noise and the dealership opened a Toyota Case and just heard toyota approved the dealership to order the transmission and replace it. I am at 59,700 miles so just beat the 60k warranty.
Thanks, that's good to know. When I bought mine new, the dealership gave me a 3rd-party lifetime powertrain warranty. No, it's not the UA80. The UA80 was for high-torque applications (V6 engines). The 5th generation RAV4 (2019 and up) uses the UB80, which is similar to the UA80, but designed for the smaller, lower torque vehicles (4-cylinder engines). I'd like to know what the differences are between the UA and UB, and if the UB has any of the same problems.

If they are similar based on model #'s, then perhaps just a scaling exercise to make the trans parts smaller since they do not need to be so beefy for the lower energy 4cyl. But I honestly don't know the answer.
