If parked in a parking lot and someone pulls in next to you and manually folds your power mirrors in, will that damage the power folding mirror feature?
The RAV4 Prime does not come with power folding mirrors in North America, so this is of no concern.Yes Power "Folding" Mirrors.. I am concerned about them being damaged.
If you have added the folding mirrors from CarTrimHome or AliExpress, it will not damage the mirror motors if they are manually folded. However, the motor will not move them back; you have to manually fold them back before the motors will work again. If parked in a parking lot and someone pulls in next to you and manually folds your power mirrors in, will that damage the power folding mirror feature?
Happened to me just two days ago. Tight parking spot, so parked next to another car (other car may have been on the line, but I'm not sure). Other driver reached out his window and folded my mirrors and his mirrors in.Who out there folds other peoples mirror? Never heard of that before.
Many of us have added the power folding mirrors from CarTrimHome or AliExpress. There are at least two threads on this forum on the subject. The RAV4 Prime does not come with power folding mirrors in North America, so this is of no concern.
Duh!!!! Because I bought the car used.. I didn't want them. Sheeze..Not trying to be rude, buy duh? If you HAVE folding mirrors, why not use them? Fold them in each time you park and no one will need to fold them in for you.
Don't use them? No choice. The CarTrimHome and AliExpress folding mirror kits automatically fold in the mirrors when you lock the car. There is no setting to change that. Only way to keep them from folding in is to unplug the connectors behind the door panels.Plan two. Don't use the automatic folding mirrors. You don't want to use them? Don't. Pretend they are just manual mirrors. If someone folds them in, you can just fold them back out. Problems solved.
Sorry that you haven't really gotten a solid answer to your question yet. I did some quick Internet searches because I was actually also curious to the answer. If parked in a parking lot and someone pulls in next to you and manually folds your power mirrors in, will that damage the power folding mirror feature?
The answer I gave in post #6 above is not good enough: "it will not damage the mirror motors if they are manually folded."Sorry that you haven't really gotten a solid answer to your question yet
The outside rear view mirror is required by law to fold manually. The OP was asking about mirrors that have a power electric motor in them; they fold with a push of a button on the dash.I fold my 2023 Rav4 Hybrid XSE mirrors in whenever I take it to the car wash. No issues/problems so far. I open the mirrors before leaving the car wash.
