So...when we were driving home last night in our 2007 Rav4 (4 cyl, 2WD) the VSC light, traction control (car with swervy lines) came on and the check engine light started FLASHING whenever we made a right hand turn and tried to accelerate. It would go into a sort of limp mode until we hit the brakes and got below 25-30 mph...then they would go off and everything was fine until we had to slow down, turn or veer right and accelerate. It only seemed to happen on right turns. So I was thinking bad ABS sensor or bad wiring connection to it..."the ECM thinks we are skidding and goes into limp mode until we slow down." I pulled the codes and all I received was a P0304 which is a misfire in the 4th cylinder. I took it for a spin this morning. Turned right and accelerated...nothing. Got home and checked codes...nothing. Also, it buckles (no warning lights) if you try to hold it around 50 mph...if you accelerate past that or slow down, it stops. But I think this is a different issue by itself.
So, I don't know whether to focus my attention on the ABS system or the spark system. Can the ECM shutting power to the engine during the traction control problem cause a misfire code? Help! Don't just wanna start throwing parts at it.
