I'm new to the RAV4 Hybrid, just got a 24 XLE. When opening only the drivers door to get in, there is a buzzing noise for a couple of seconds. Don't know what it is, does anyone?
Also, do any of the displays show engine RPM?

The RPMs are not displayed for a reason. It would freak people out. They could be sitting at a stop and the ICE would start running at 2,500 rpms or driving along at 3500 rpm while only going 40 mph. Or doing 30 mph with 0 rpm. The computer will start/stop and running the ICE at the best rpm despite the needed load.

Although I have read there is a heads-up display that can show rpms, but it is after market.

There supposedly is a tach display but I haven't looked for it.
Edit: I just went through every setting on the display of my 23 hybrid limited and could not find a setting that shows a tach reading.
There is no tach on the hybrids.

I have the CarTrimHome head up display that shows engine RPM: Not suitable for plug-in version!!!Free Shipping 1Set Head Up Display HUD For Toyota RAV4 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024

I really like it, mainly because I can tell when the ICE is running. In the hybrid, the ICE does not run that often, and you can't tell when it starts or stops, the transition is practically seamless.

For normal driving, the RPM is surprisingly low, about 1500 to 2000, even up to 70 MPH. The only time I see it high is when going down a very steep hill and the computer lowers the gear ratio to get engine braking; then, I have seen as much as 4000.

My ICE runs alot. You can see the EV light go on in the display when the ICE is not running. When the EV indicator light is off the ICE is running. I'm surprised you say your ICE does not run often. Do have a Prime Rav4?

There is a lot at play here. Is the A/C or heater on? What is the road like, up hill, down hill? The driver's own knowledge of driving for best EV conditions.
At times I can easily get 1.5 miles on just EV (up to 30 mph), other times on the same road no so good. Each person needs to learn their own driving habits and adjust if possible.

No, I don't have a Prime. Slow driving around town, the ICE does not run a lot. On the highway, it runs all the time. Going down hill, the ICE never runs unless engine braking is needed (regeneration capability exceeded).

The EV light on the dash is small, and you have to divert your view, refocus, to look at it. The HUD is much easier to see. It also can show many other things as well.

The big difference is if you are primarily doing city driving. I live in a rural area where most speeds are 45-55Mph. I don't do much driving that's 25mph that can get alot of EV use. I see people reporting mpg of 50+. The best I ever got is 40.7mpg.

My best was 47 MPG coming home from southern Utah via back roads (50 to 60 MPH speed limit).

The HUD that goes in the speaker spot unfortunately is impaired by our state Inspection sticker which is placed on the windshield in that spot.
How far above the bottom of the windshield is your sticker? Is it mounted inside or outside?

The display of the HUD is actually quite high; the bottom edge of the display panel is 4" above the see through part of the glass (there is a 4" black mask below that to the outside trim). Thus your sticker may be below the HUD display panel.

BTW, the HUD display panel is translucent, you can see through it, but the display bounces off it for the driver's viewing. Thus you can see things on the outside, like lane markers, that might not be visible with just a mirror surface.

Looking at the online video of the installation of the HUD, the reflective film will be on top of the state inspection sticker. The inspection sticker is on inside of windshield. The sticker location is specified by the state so I don’t think I can have it moved.

I think it's normal. I always hear a variety of electrical type shut down noises getting in or getting out of the car.
