Would be great if Toyota offered the connector alone as an upgrade for older style inferior connectors. Sadly the specialized tools, training for their mechanics and liability issues probably make it prohibitive so they change out the entire cable assembly for several thousand dollars. A competent electrician could change the connector in less than an hour with standard tools found in their tool box. Auto manufacturers seem to prefer replacing assemblies rather repairing individual components. While this practice is convenient for dealers, it is very pricy for owners out of warranty.

I would assume this would be the part they would use for a warranty claim/TSB.
Any part needed for a T-SB repair is clearly itemized in the T-SB. There is so such item in the current T-SB. Perhaps in a new version of the T-SB?

I'll never understand why they thought that leaving that cable exposed to the elements was a good idea. hopefully this fixes the issue for 2024 and forward.
They've been doing it for years. The problem was in the orange clamshell that was trapping in junk and causing corrosion to wick up into the connector.

2024. Built 06/24.
As you can see. Yes it is wrapped in rubber. So it has been updated from the 2023.
So if this rubber wrapped and completely sealed up design is the latest 2024 "cable gate" fix then WHY did Toyota use the interim design where they cut away the orange clam shell supposedly to let water drain? Toyota's first design was the closed orange clamshell. Then the cut-a-way clamshell with a splash guard tray under it. Now back to a completely shrouded and rubber condom enclosed design. What gives--Toyota can't make up their mind on how to prevent corrosion?

Progress is evolutionary.
In this case it devolved! The 2019 original design was closed. So were all the cars made with the open cut off clam shell de facto wrong and defective? In fact, were all the cars that were repaired with that open clam shell cable under the customer satisfaction extended warranty repaired incorrectly with defective parts?

While the wrap, sleeve, condom, whatever we are calling it, looks like a step in the right direction, it does completely conceal the vulnerable stuff…so the only way we’ll know if it has mitigated the issue is if in a couple years the failures tapper off...

I’d LOVE to see what is inside that black envelope. If its packed with dialectic grease I’d feel better about it.
