I had to tie down the hatchback because I was transporting large items. Is there a way to stop the annoying beeps, because the hatchback is slightly open?
It is said in this post that the beeping will be silenced when the PBD (Power Back Door) is turned off in Vehicle Settings. I have not tried it.

This video is queued to start at the specific instructions for changing the vehicle settings, but it also covers additional aspects for adjusting PBD beeps via TechStream.

i turned off the PBD under the Vehicle Settings. The door won't open using the button on the bottom left of the steering wheel or by pressing the door open button on the remote. If the door is open I can't access the Vehicle settings to turn off the PBD

According to the other post it appears they were able to open the door manually. Can that be done? If so that would solve it.

I went to my car to explore options. I opened the powered back door part way using the button on the hatch. I started the car -- display showed the rear door open. I went to the settings menu and was able to toggle the PBD to the off setting, as shown blurrily below. This is a 2023 -- not sure what's different in your car.

While it was off I confirmed the buttons no longer operated the door.

When you say: "If the door is open I can't access the Vehicle settings to turn off the PBD" Maybe you mean the center of the screen is blocked by the open door warning as below? If so, just hit the return key on the steering wheel to remove it.

As for the warning beeps, I tried to evoke that even before turning off the door. I opened the powered back door part way. I started the car and drove it forward and back a few feet and there were no warning beeps, only the on-screen image showing the car with the rear door in red to let me know it was open.

However, I had previously turned off the "PDB Buzzer" so that when the door is opened/closed it makes just a single beep rather than a series of 8 beeps. I used TechStream to do this as shown in this video. I imagine that Carista can do it, too. I presume that's what eliminated the warning beeps for me.

There is a way to release the door from inside, but not for the feint of heart. It's there as a fail safe when the solenoid cannot be operated. See this video.

Very useful info. TechStream sounds really good. Do I install it on my iPhone or laptop? If it's on the laptop do I have to be very close to the car for it to work? Where do I find the installation instructions? Of course any tips to get to that screen you had displayed would be great.

I have a 2023 Rav4 Prime and did notice a customization screen in the settings in the center monitor display not the dashboard.. Would that do the same thing?

There are scads of forum discussions on where/how to do TechStream. And what we're usually referring to running at home starts with a Mini VCI J2534 cable that connects your laptop's USB to the car's OBDII port. Then installing some form of unofficial TechStream software. There are several vendors offering this at Amazon, but the software versions vary, V16, V17, V18. We should use V18.00.008 (or newer) as it recognizes the RAV4 Prime. This is not the friendliest way to go, which is why Carista is popular, can run on a phone, but costs more.

The MMI screen where you see radio and navigation has its own settings menu, totally different stuff.

Were you still not able to access the PDB settings menu after the door was opened? I would think your 2023 would do same as mine. If so, that will be the quickest, easiest and cheapest solution.

I used my remote to slightly open the door, started the car and was able to get rid of the door open screen by hitting the return button and then turned off the PBD, unfortunately I still got the beeping sound. When I turn the beep volume down I dot' hear a difference in volume. You have to be driving forward at 3 MPH or more to get the beeping. You can't really do this in your driveway, unless you have a long driveway.

I see the customization screen on the monitor is only for limited items, not like Techstream

I don't have the "Hands Free" display, so I assume it's because I don't have that feature.

Yes, same here. So neither the MID settings nor the TechStream settings made any difference in silencing the warning beeper.

Very sorry for the fruitless wild-goose chase.
Nothing constructive to add, other than I still remember an IKEA run in the Prius back in 2012. Box too big to close the hatch and I had to listen to that damn beeper for 4 hours.

So interested too in solutions :)

How does the RAV4 detect that the rear door is open or closed? Is there a position sensor? Does it know whether the latch is open/closed?
I believe there is a sensor/switch on the latch.
