Just took my 2007 Limited on it's first long distance drive 650 miles one way, coming home 650 miles.
I bought good lumbar and butt memory foam supports as well as new 'plush seat covers' before this trip.
when almost home, the pain in my upper back had me pull over and yank that cushion out (as my upper back & neck weren't being supported by anything)- lower back fine/no sciatica - all support/adjustment products
talk about sciatic and lower back pain. I understand it's not a luxury car nor is it a base model. I've watched how to do the settings on You Tube for maximum comfort. Any advice on what others may have done? Can we change out the driver's seat out for some luxury seat?

Hi Raveneur: after posting this question and watching more videos, I went out and made some adjustments - I'm a petite 5/2, so always assumed head rest should be at lowest - I pushed it up and now that is positioned where it takes the strained angle off my neck and shoulders - indeed, we all have different body types/structural needs, so fine tuning what this seat has is best. Don't want to spend lots of $ on aftermarket seats. Thanks for your post.

We have an '11 RAV4 Base with the Upgrade Value Package (includes upgraded upholstery) but the seats on wife's '10 CR-V EX are much more comfortable for longer trips. Some members have suggested having an upholstery shop modify the RAV4 seats but it is possible that they could make things worse. Thought about Recaro replacement seats but they are pricey and there would be problems with the air bags and related electrics.

Thanks for your reply. I've adjusted seating and pulled the headrest up to it's highest point and that seems to have alleviated the uncomfortable neck/upper back angles. I won't spend a lot of money upgrading seats that may not even help the situation.
