Hello this is my first post however I have spent quite a bit of time on this forum recently.

I have a 2010 RAV 4 Limited AWD v4 with 95,000 miles.

This started months ago when I got the following emissions codes: P043F, P043E, P2401, P2402 and P2419.
My first thought was it was just an emissions thing, I live in WA state so I'm not required to pass any of those tests so I figured it wasn't a big deal.
Then I realized that it does disable 4WD and traction control and it's not a coincidence those lights popped up too.

My first line of action was purchasing a new gas cap from Amazon, 77300-06040. However this did not work, although I would be open to revisiting this because I'm not sure if its an OEM part.

After a few months I decided I'd try to fix this and replaced the EVAP canister with the 2007 Scion part and changed over the mounting brackets, like I had seen on other threads of this subject. Part is 77740-21011.

I thought I had fixed it, cleared the codes with my scanner then a couple days later I got the engine light again. This time though, there are only 2 codes which are P0441 & P0455 (large leak).

Since P0441 mentions incorrect purge flow I decided I'd replace the Purge Valve Solenoid with one from Rock Auto. Cleared the codes again and now the same two codes are back.
I had also came to the conclusion that the old one was stuck closed because, I disconnected the hose that runs back into the charcoal canister, let it run for awhile but never felt any sort of vacuum.

Now I am sightly at a loss of what do to. I am definitely not a mechanic, or super car savvy but I have a lot of tools and a fair amount of patients to work on my car.

Need help coming up with a next step, whether that is checking out other potential issues, or sending to a mechanic so they could do a smoke test to identify the issue.

I know there is a vent valve solenoid that I haven't looked into yet, but have probably written enough and any suggestions would be appreciated!

Try parking the other direction?

Yeah, I think you're right. I guess I was just doing the punch-list fixes for these error codes. I'll call around this week and get one scheduled.
Arg, my situation sounds nearly identical (100k RAV4 Limited). I paid a tech to fix it. I cleaned & tested the Purge Control Valve. Seemed ok. They said it was bad and replaced it. It didn't fix it, so I brought it back. They did a smoke test and checked the canister & said that was bad. They wanted $500 more. I decided I didn't want to go down that hole so I JUST installed the Scion canister ($240 OEM) myself.

Alas, I am not sure it'll fix the problem. I opened the old one and the valve was absolutely clean. Fingers crossed that it was another part in the canister that was the problem. I'll know in a week or so (it's my son's car & he'll be on vacation shortly).

Let me know if you find another solution!

Hey! I scheduled an appointment with a mechanic shortly after posting this. Only going to have them do the smoke test unless its something I don't think I can handle. My appointment is on the 6th, so I'll let you know the result of that and what they say. Sorry to hear that we're on the same boat, it's seems to be a very annoying fix for a seemingly non-vital issue with the car.

Did this fix your issue with your rav4

@cooperishere Any thoughts on what you will do now?

My Followup from 28Oct post: The Scion part did NOT fix my codes... It sounds like the mechanics are shooting in the dark as well, at our expense. It's certainly not worth paying for multiple fixes that don't solve the issue when these old RAV4s aren't worth that much!

Seems like the course of action may be to ignore it, or take it to a Toyota dealer. When the dealer says "this is the problem & the fix" - will they guarantee it? ...I haven't been in this situation with a dealer before.

@cooperishere Any luck on your RAV4 issue? My son's fix is just to keep a bluetooth error code reader plugged in & resets it 1-2 times per week so he can have cruise control.
Yes! Mine have resolved, I paid a mechanic to replace the filler neck, which apparently had a significant EVAP leak. Then the codes came back shortly after, but I just had to replace purge valve solenoid, and that triggered almost all the same codes. It’s been fine now since then.
I was doing the same thing for awhile, just clearing my codes every couple of days but its fixed now
