Since 2019? The PR people need to get their facts right.

Prime is easier to say & shorter to spell. It's been in the Toyota lineup since 2017 (Prius Prime) so it's not like it's foreign to anyone...
That's exactly right. The word prime has been used for centuries, and its I-M-E letter sequence is spelled and pronounces in the same way as in dime, lime, time, mime, etc.

No, BZ4X is an entirely different vehicle with a separate shape and architecture.
The point is that Toyota has had a compact, easy-to-pronounce, easy-to-spell, easily recognizable name that became associated with the reputable Toyota vehicles on the US market, and now they are dumping it so they can start using a generic abbreviation that most people won't recognize or know how to spell.

It's a little bit like Coca-Cola would toss the word "Coke" and replace it with "BRCAD" (BRown CArbonated Drink).

The word Prime is also ALWAYS associated with the best. The cream of the crop. Superb. Numero uno. Things like Prime rib, Prime real estate, Prime rate.

PHEV is so, well, blah. Boring. Dumb...

For those not in the know about hybrids, it can be confusing. This will be better in the long run. I guess Toyota is adopting a new badging standard to their vehicles so Toyota's plug in hybrid badge for the Prime looks like it's going to pasture.

Any other changes known yet, besides the name?
We should know more once the models hit the build page on the Toyota webpage, which with the 5th Gen RAV4 is typically October/November.

If that Toyota pressroom article for the 2025 Prime linked above is anything to go by, I'm willing to bet no changes at all, except maybe a new TRD/Woodland color (if that).
