My 2020 Camry Hybrid auto muted during texts and navigation but the 2023 RAV 4 Hybrid does not have this option? it is distracting and annoying to manually mute music to play messages…wonder if Toyota is going to update this? It’s a huge issue to be honest… very disappointing. :( I can increase the sound of the read messsages but I play music a little louder and between the music and road noise, can’t hardly hear. Why not put a setting in there for this? Please advise if I missed something! Just picked up new vehicle yesterday. Thanks!

If I get a text, I turn the radio volume down, then press the text on screen. Text message is normal volume. I do the same before sending a text and works fine. This Is a stupid omission on Toyotas part not having auto mute like on a phone call.

The dealer plays dumb, so the only solution is before sending a text is turn down radio. Then send text. When you receive a text, turn radio down befor listening, it will have normal volume on text. When through, turn radio volume up. A stupid omission on Toyota’s part, every other car I’ve had has auto mute

Our 2023 rav4 auto mutes in Android auto when voicing a text message, receiving a text message or listening to navigation instructions. Haven’t tried Apple CarPlay in that vehicle yet. Our new 2024 Rav4 using Apple CarPlay in wired or wireless does NOT mute or lower the music (Spotify) level and I cannot hear the voice text and voice navigation as they are all the same level so they talk over each other. Very frustrating

I found that Google Maps does mute the music, while Apple Maps does not, both via CarPlay. Thus there must be something different in the settings for the apps, not the car radio. I can't find it, though.

On 2024 RAV4, I am using Google maps through CarPlay and it does not mute for me with voice texts and voice Google map instructions. But with same iPhone, it works flawlessly in my 2020 other Toyota vehicle. I’m stumped but there are several people online also reporting the same issues the past few years.

I found out the texting problem is IoS 17, any Ios16 phone will work normally. I’ve tried many phones with both operating systems, so an X and below will work perfectly

I’m on iOS 16.7.6 and have the issues on 2024 RAV4 but not the 2020 with same phone on same settings. My sons 2023 rav4 mutes as needed with his new Samsung Galaxy Android Auto.

My new 2024 Rav4 Hybrid using Apple CarPlay wireless does NOT mute or lower the music level and I cannot hear the voice text or incoming calls as they are all the same level. Extremely frustrating. My 2019 Rav4 I had just before this one auto muted just fine. Is there a fix for this? K

No fix yet. Not working for us using wired or wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto or Toyotas navigation. I have two 2024 Rav4 Limited and son has a 2023 Rav4 XLE and all have same issue. Very frustrating. They ordered one new screen for one of the 2024 Rav4 to see if it works Better. But the screen on the Limited being replaced also has about 3 other glitches (finger touch fails to work for hours/days at a time, info on screen does not update/freezes so it shows a song and artist that played much earlier but the songs have since changed on radio, etc.)

I have the same issue. I just traded in my 2022 Prius for a 2024 RAV4 XLE Hybrid and noticed this issue. Music fades (does not stop) when map directions are read, but music volume doesn't change when voicemail or text messages are read making it extremely difficult to understand what was said in the messages. I did not have this issue with the Prius.

This is a common issue with many Toyota’s sadly. I believe this started with the 2022 Tundra. Toyota’s operating system was changed and with this update the issue seems to have come about. We have a 2019 and 2024 and only have this issue with the 2024.
