My wife has a 2018 Rav4 Limited, and I would like to add the 360-camera system (Birds Eye View?). I have read it is possible, but I am having a hard time finding comprehensive information.
When I search, I find lots of aftermarket/Chinese knockoff type stand-alone system. I would rather have it integrated into the "factory system".
Can someone point me in the right direction for info and parts?

Side note: Is there a way to add a dash camera/recording system to it?

It might be a tough task. Along with the integration, you'd also have to install four cameras on the vehicle for the factory look. I'm sure Toyota has the parts since birds eye view was an available option on the Limited but to add it on afterwards might be a bit troublesome for some. Good luck!

There is a camera mounted on the bottom of each exterior mirror. That along with the wiring needing to be installed could be a challenge.
I just bought a new Rav4 hybrid and the 360 degree view camera is my most liked feature.
Very helpful with tight parking spaces. I won't buy another car without it.

Hmmm...your Rav4 is 7 years old. Perhaps it's time to trade it in for a new Rav4 ?

Yeah, it might take some work, and might be too expensive, but I want to try to figure al that out before I make a decision.
Also, a lot of times, the wires are already there in the harness, all you have to do is connect into it, with a "T" connection. Or if it a matter of replacing the mirror, you just disconnect the old and reconnect the new on with the camera.

As for that...maybe but naw. Although, it is very tempting. My wife's last car was 20 years old, with over 600K miles. I changed the whole suspension (front and back), struts, sway bars, bushings etc. I also, personally replace brake calipers, rotors, starters, alternators, engine, radiator, fuel pump, and more on that car ('98 Camery). We're in it for the long haul. Cheaper to maintain the car, than to get a new loan every few years. I put that loan payment into savings and tools. My next tool is going to be a 20k lbs lift, like what you see in maintenance shops. $5k includes installation and $1M insurance policy.
My favorite vehicle is my 1983 GMC pick-up. We don't need new, we need debt free and the ability to be self-sufficient.
I'm not saying getting a new car is a bad idea, it's just not us.

Good point about the possibly of the wiring already existing. That would make the upgrade
job much easier.

Also good point about keeping a car for a long time. More power to you.
My 2003 Tacoma runs great and is my daily driver. Until I bought my
2025 Rav4 hybrid. ;)

Oh man, I'd love to have a vehicle lift. I'm sure a lot of your buddies will want to use it!

Yeah, you get me then. And yes, my friends will love me having a lift. I have a brother, 9 brothers-in-law, 16 nephews, a father-in-law, a dad and many friends. So, they will all be using it at some point, and that is why I am getting it. (No, I'm not Mormon, my wife is #4 of 10 kids, and my in-laws have 38 grandkids. LOL)
I have a good "community" around me. When things go sideways (the big snowstorm that hit Texas 2021, tornados, windstorms/power outages, etc.) we take care of each other and even more so, we find others that need help. Most of us have generators, tractors, chainsaws, etc.

But I digress...

Wow, what a great family.

Let us know how the 360 degree camera upgrade project goes.

Have you tried talking to the Toyota parts department they have schematics with what parts you would need to install. They might have first hand knowledge on how hard or easy it will be to do this install. Could be worth a visit to your local dealer?

At only 7 years old? I still have my 2007 RAV4. It still looks great, even sitting next to my 2023 RAV4. If you're serious about your Recreational Active Vehicle 4WD, you'll keep it when you buy a new one.
Seriously, there was almost no trade-in value on the 2007, so we kept it.

P.S. It was nice long ago getting a response from Toyota on what RAV4 actually stood for!
