I have a 2024 RAV4 Hybrid Ltd with the Advanced Technology Package. What a waste of money for the Advanced Package!!
I use Android Auto all the time and sometimes it works fine -- connects automatically to both Waze and my favorite "Tune-In" program. However, on a long trip, the package "times Out" and I have to pull over, reboot the system completely, then it's fine for hours before it does it again.
Also, many times I'll get out of the car for an hour or less, get back in without having done anything with my phone, and I get a "can't connect" again. INEXCUSEABLE TOYOTA!
Has anyone else had similar issues??

what model of phone do you have?

what is your broadband provider?

what is the version of AA on your phone?

is it possible you are going out of range of the phone (i.e. not enough cell towers)

I have a 2024 prime, and the only issue is sometimes the phone does not connect with AA when I get in the car, and i have to go to BT devices and hit the connect button. Once in a great while I need to turn the car off and back on.

So you have hardware in the display, software in the display, firmware in the display, hardware in the phone, an OS in the phone, an app in the phone, and potential cell providers and cell tower locations...all mix to give you the capability.

Does it always happen at a specific spot? After a specific time? When you are using a specific app?

Now list all the version numbers of all that stuff and see if there is someone with some later versions who is not having troubles.

I have a 2023 XSE. It is non TECH but I do think it has the same JBL system(?) I have AA and mine does the same thing 'time to time' My phone is a Samsung A52. My JBL has the latest software. I have some other clitches as well.

I still have lots of warranty so just waiting to see if some sort of new software will fix it or maybe a new unit.

I will state upfront I don't use AA. But some of the symptoms you are describing also happens with Apple iPhones. Things to remember Bluetooth is a very short range low power wireless connection. It is easier blocked by your body and position of the devices. I use the Carlinkit 5.0 with my iPhone. I had the same issues. What I discovered was where the phone is in relation to the signal needed. I carry my phone in the left jean pocket and it depended on how the phone was position in the pocket in relation to the Carlinkit. I could put the iPhone in the center cubby and it worked just fine because it was close to the Carlinkit mounted in the cubby with velcro strips. Put the iPhone further away and the problems returned. So try different areas for the phone, like in the center cubby or in a cupholder in the center console.

Interesting. I will see if that helps. Thanks.

Yes, test with phone in cubby and don't move it during tests... Bluetooth is not only low power, but it will reduce power when it can, so if it reduces transmit power, and then the signal is reduces or obstructed, you can have issues.

Same vehicle and AA times out on long trips for me also. I either reboot the system or reconnect the phone but shouldn't be happening.
