MY 2024 RAV4 XLE PREMIUM SEEMS TO HAVE LOST BLUETOOTH CONX WITH MY IPHONE. MY PHONE SAYS IT'S CONNECTED WITH THE CAR AND THE PHONE APPEARS IN THE SETTINGS DEVICES BUT I CAN'T GET THE PHONE TO SHOW UP IN MUSIC, MAPS OR CONTACTS WITHOUT A USB CONNECTION PLUGGED IN. ANYONE??

YOU'RE CONFUSING BLUETOOTH CONNECTION WITH ANDROID AUTO. BLUETOOTH CAN COMMUNICATE CALLS AND MUSIC BUT UNLESS YOU HAVE A MODEL THAT SUPPORTS WIRELESS ANDROID AUTO YOU DO HAVE TO PLUG THE PHONE IN WITH A CORD TO GET MAPS TO SHOW UP, OR YOUR MUSIC APP'S CAR INTERFACE.

GO INTO THE AUDIO MENU > SOURCE > SELECT BLUETOOTH AND YOUR AUDIO WILL CONNECT AGAIN. PLEASE REPORT BACK WITH RESULTS IF THAT DOESN'T FIX IT.

Thanks for responding. Don't think I'm confusing anything with anything. When I picked up the brand new car, The salesman set me up with both our iPhones doing carplay with the Rav4. Now, 8 months later the phones and Rav aren't talking. I worked on it for 2-3 days and just got back from the dealer where someone worked on it for about 30 minutes with no success. I have an appt tomorrow for the first checkup and hopefully the service dept can fix it. I did say I had an iPhone and thought that that would rule out anything Androidish. I use carplay and from what I understand the car uses Bluetooth to talk to my iPhone. I see them "connected" in both my iphone settings and in the bluetooth devices listed listed on the car's display.

By the way, thanks for using ALL CAPS. Makes it easier for me to read. I hope Dr. Dyno doesn't show his/her displeasure with you.

morgan, YOU'LL GET BETTER RESPONSE IF YOU DON'T TYPE IN CAPS

So, after the dealership, we might be able to help you in at least isolating it between the "normal' bluetooth connection, and the Carplay application.

Your statement: BUT I CAN'T GET THE PHONE TO SHOW UP IN MUSIC, MAPS OR CONTACTS WITHOUT A USB CONNECTION PLUGGED IN

does not make sense, the phone does not show up in a music app, the tunes on the phone should show.. you seem to imply that it works with a usb cable, so perhaps it is a setting.

On my '24 prime, (I have android) , you ENABLE the normal "phone type" apps via Bluetooth SEPARATELY from the Android Auto app (but in your case Carplay)... this could be your problem

By saying CAN'T GET THE PHONE TO SHOW UP IN MUSIC, MAPS OR CONTACTS WITHOUT A USB CONNECTION PLUGGED IN, I meant that There were no music, maps or contacts displayed on the display yet my iphone said "connected" to the rav. The dealer had no problem connecting another iphone to the car and I can so bluetooth with other bluetooth enabled devices, speakers, laptop, iPods and I had no problem connecting an older iPhone with the RAV, I just can't get a carplay conx between the RAV and the iPhone. In other words, my iPhone connects by bluetooth normally with other devices except the RAV and the Rav connects using Carplay with other iPhones..Perplexing to say the least.
By the way my IOS on the phone is the latest, 18.3.1 and the IOS on my old phone is OLD!, 16.7.7.

Again, with USB everything is hunkydory, just like the Carplay conx a week ago.

I also have a similar problem but with Android Auto. The Bluetooth connection to Android Auto was always inconsistent. But recently, it hasn't connected unless I plug in the phone. It won't even connect if I try to connect it from the car settings. The car recognizes both my phone and my wife's. But when I select my phone and touch the button to connect Android Auto it just hangs. Often, after a hard wire connection, it will automatically connect for a while. But then it fails and I have to connect the wire again. I have a 2023 XSE Hybrid.

If you had Apple, I would say to call support. Can you call the maker of your phone? It sounds like you have the same problem as I. As you can imagine after spending over 2 hours, we went all over the place so there's really no recall of ALL we did. What I tried to remember were the basic steps and those were to reset the car ( 1. turn it off. 2. open and close the door. 3. lock the door 4. turn it back on) Then disconnect your phone from it and reset "all network settings" and "location and privacy" on the phone. Then reconnect (pair) with the little button on the left side of the steering wheel. When you do that you get a number on you phone screen and a prompt to pair. You also get a prompt on the RAV display to connect. That's about all I can remember. After doing that 52 times (just kidding, kinda) it finally started working. After that I had a problem getting any audio out of the thing but that was solved when we discontinued the screen sharing. Maybe the dealer can help but they couldn't help me other than me narrowing the problem down to my specific iPhone and the conx with the RAV. My other phones were fine.

I really can't sing the praises of Apple support enough. I've been an Apple guy since the first MAC and still have an original Powerbook 100. I've ALWAYS had great support, sometimes for hours, but they never gave up and always (sort of) enjoyed the challenge because the problem ALWAYS got solved.

I had the exact same issue from Day 1. Took it back to the Dealer who also tried to get it to work. Appeared to work when I left and then wasn’t working again, then all of a sudden in the following days it started working that was 2 months ago. However now over the last three days it keeps switching from Bluetooth hands free to handset mid call. And I have to reconnect to Bluetooth to resume hands free. Very, very frustrating. I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max so not a super old handset. Be interested if others have this issue

I have had this issue. I go to the car devices and remove or Forget the devices. I shut down the phone and restart the phone after 10 sec. After the phone is back up I turn on Bluetooth scroll down to see it is looking for devices.
I go to the car phone settings and click look for phone.
Add your phone back in keep the phone within 12” of the screen.
I only had to do this once in 49k miles.

I'm at my wits end. Had my 2015 Rav4 serviced on 7/2 and over this last weekend, I realized my phone cannot be heard through the car audio nor is it recognizing my contacts. My Pandora plays just fine as does my Google maps. I have tried EVERY suggestion I have found online, nothing has worked. No, unpairing and pairing didn't work. Resetting my phone didn't work. Android Auto doesn't work with the year of my car. I've unhooked the battery connection and redid the battery connection. I reset the initialization, any others I have forgotten? The weird thing is, my calls work in my sons truck, and his phone works in my car. ---- Dealer says drop it off so we can do diagnostics. No, how will you know ----- it's doing with my phone if I'm not there? None of it makes sense. I just can't today.
