2017 RAV4 Front Brake Pads

Hi,

I've tried searching the forum and I'm not finding anything that explains this. I'm trying to help a friend with the brakes on her 2017 RAV4. It's an LE with the 2.5L 4-cyl, AWD, and 6-speed auto.

I've put her VIN into autoparts.toyota.com and no less than five distinct part numbers are shown, and all say "Exact Fit for your 2017 RAV4"! 04465-AZ314, 04465-AZ217, 04465-0R010, 04465-0R031, and 04465-42200.

I thought that 04465-0R031 was the correct part number. However, these pads won't fit. The pad itself backing plate seems to be about 1/8" too long, compared to the stock pads. The new pads are marked ADVICS PV565H-FC, which I believe is correct, so it's not like the wrong pads were put into the right box.

How do you know which brake pad applies to this vehicle?

Edit: The VIN begins with 2T, so as I understand it, it was built in Canada.

I looked up the part numbers on the ADVICS website:

So, I gather that the LE is the only version with the smaller front brake rotors (275mm vs 296mm). I should have just looked it up on ADVICS in the first place and gone through RockAuto. I'm still completely baffled as to why Toyota's part search says that all five brake pad sets fit the vehicle, and which Toyota part number corresponds to the ADVICS AD1210...

I recommend Akebono brake pads all around. Just as good, if not better than OEM. Your nearest NAPA store should have them. I've been using them for years on my RAV4, VW Jetta, Honda Civic and other Japanese cars. MyPartFinder You'll need to know the rotor size. Should be either 275mm or 296mm for the 2.5L 4 cylinder.

I own a 2017 Rav4 LE FWD (ICE), the brakes are different for different Rav4s dependent upon where they were built and the trim level. Front disc is 275 mm for North America built. I also thought that putting in the VIN would help but it didn't. Anyway, I go with aftermarket for brake pads. So, I wouldn't know.

A vehicle manufacturer like Toyota might not make their own brake pads since the technology for brake pads is well known and there are better after market manufacturers of brake pads who have their own factories already in place. Just like Toyota doesn't make their own spark plugs or O2 sensors.

Yes, you are looking for the Toyota parts number which fit your vehicle. I am sorry I can not help. Since it is confusing to me how Toyota can have five different types for the same model year.

which is why OP was so funny when they wanted to be arrogant as if enlightened, I even took the time to get them the part numbers…

some people are simply ungrateful and don’t know what they don’t know.

Because online catalogs are pathetic and purposely confuse you while forcing you to go and shop at the dealer. If you brought the VIN to the dealer, you'd get the right part.

When shopping, know what you need before buying. Rockauto would've helped you since the parts, front rotors and pads, have LE and xle/se... separated.

This is accurate about Toyota parts catalog.

Rockauto doesn’t sell Toyota tho!!! OP won’t have that!!!😂😂😂

As if the akebono pads aren’t the OE replacement….

Sorry, since you are replying to me, what does , "They don't, akebono does" mean? I do not understand what I said to prompt this reply??

Sorry, I only skim thru the posts. It is sad to see such feelings brought up in a forum meant to help each other. But, the best thing to do is to not engage when confronted with arrogance. That doesn't help anyone.
