I was on the fwy, the car ahead of me flipped a gator right in front of me. Swerved a bit and missed the front. but ripped the rear tire wide open. Nothing that a mobility kit would fix. Pulled to the shoulder and changed it with my spare. Otherwise it would had been a trip on the flat bed on Sunday night.

And 3 changes of underwear later

Wow on the gator
If it is like the big deer here in iowa they just walk it off

I filled my compact spare up to 60 psi and am hoping I never need it. That's what I'm doing about it.
Something so many people forget.

Personally, I opted for a flat wheel bought second-hand with jack + key in a bag in the trunk. I prefer that to just trusting the inflation kit, especially if I'm far from everything. I have a hybrid too, so I had to sacrifice a little space, but at least I ride more serene. It's not the ideal weight level, but it's a good compromise.

You feel safer with the weighty jack and tools kit sitting lose in the trunk able to fly around in an accident?

My 2024 RAV4H has a small spare tire which, unfortunately, I had to use recently after picking up a screw in the right rear tire. The spare tire fit OK, but a word of caution if you change a tire with the screw jack, because the tire iron that comes with the jack makes it possible to scratch the trim beneath the door when turning the screw jack. Anyway, the flat is fixed and back on the vehicle.
