Hi guys, is anyone experience the grinding noise while reverse parking. I forgot that my HOLD is on while i was parking. I have 2025 toyota rav4. It happens to me twice already and the grinding noise is loud.
The brake hold is supposed to release when you slightly press the accelerator/gas pedal whether you are in D or R, at least it does on my 2024 R4H.

Any sort of grinding noise, especially if loud, can't be a good thing. Especially since you're still under warranty I would turn off the brake hold and take the car back to the dealer asap to check it out.

How do you get into HOLD and then R? You are in D and stop, it holds there, then you shift to R?
It would take lots of gas to move the Rav if the Hold is holding. Does the Rav actually move when you get this horrible sound?

There is a dedicated Hold button on my 2024 R4H (near top left in photo).

When activated the Brake Hold works whether in D or R.

Then when stationary either in D or R a slight press of the accelerator/gas pedal turns Brake Hold off and the vehicle begins to move.

You can also deactivate Brake Hold while the vehicle is moving by pressing the button again or if stationary by pressing the brake while pressing the button.

It seems to me the op's Brake Hold might not be releasing properly when it is supposed to release.

On 2020 Lim the Hold is just a push-button that activates the feature, it engages when the vehicle is stopped and you have enough pressure on the brake pedal. From there is turns off the same way, just a touch of gas pedal.

So with that up-down Hold toggle button, is that the only way to Hold the brakes, by using the button each time you want Hold to hold the brakes? Once I turn mine on (the Hold system) it stays on until I park or turn it off using the Hold push-button.

For the OP, I would ask any dealer service place to check the VIN and see if any ECM stuff is needing an update.
