this may be a long shot but i am running out of ideas😭 i have a 2006 rav4 limited
that has been shuddering at the 35-45 mph range. it only does it at that speed, and goes away if you let go of the gas or get it above 50 mph. the mechanic told me i need a new transmission but i don’t have 5.4k on hand to afford that. at that point i may as well sell the car, but i don’t want to have to resort to that so i’m hoping i can find some help on here. i’ve been reading some stuff and thought to try the Lube Guard Red stuff but if anyone has any other suggestions i’d love to try anything to fix my issue

i don’t know if this is related or not but i may as well throw it out there since there’s car people on here; the 4wd, check engine light, and vsc lights all stay on as well. i’m not sure if it’s related to my issue but there’s a chance it might be who knows

Well stop in to an oreilley store and have it scanned for free
Take pix of the codes

So did you check the trans fluid levels?
And what does the trans fluid look like?
And does it smell burnt?

Lots of stuff can cause issues
Like:
From computer
To bad shift solenoid
Electrical Harness
Valve body issues in the trans
Clutches in the trans
Servo in the trans

I've owned three separate Rav4s, one 2007, one 2011, and now my 2012. The only one we experienced a true shudder while under load - like on an incline - was the 2007, it was around 200,000 klms and it was the torque converter. It never went away. We ended up selling it to a mechanic.

Some other notable issues, as mentioned, could be the rear driveshaft - if it needs lubrication and is beginning to seize, you can get a reproducable shudder/vibration at around 80kph, for about +/- 10kph.

Replacing the drive shaft will solve that.. The rear drive shaft does not have lubrication nipples and is a replaceable part.

Had the same problem with my 2010 2.4 Lmtd. Brought it to three mechanics, and only one ever noticed it. I was getting new brakes installed, and the tech and the head mechanic asked me if I'd ever noticed it. The problem persisted even after new brakes and tires. They thought it was the transmission, or perhaps something shifting around near the engine block (IIRC), so I let them poke around for another day. They were genuinely interested in the mystery, but ultimately couldn't figure out.

Our collective solution was to let off the accelerator, allow the shutter to dissipate, then continue on.

It's not an ideal solution.

No, that's not ideal. You need to take it to a good shop and have it diagnosed properly.
