Charging Issues with 2025 RAV4 Plugin Hybrid

I'm having 2 issues that did not start at the same time.
(1) Intermittently does not charge to 100% but stops charging around 85% and then sometimes charge to 100%.
(2) More recently, plugging in for a charge from (220v) charger, the green light at the charging port starts flashing. If I remove the charger connection and then re-insert it, the green light stays solid.

The dealer's service people did not have an explanation for either of these 2 occurrences. Can anyone offer an explanation? Thanks in advance---

Sounds like you have a charging schedule set in the car on the infotainment screen. The charge schedule may be starting the charge too late to finish by the time you unplug.

The charge light by the charging port flashes when a charging schedule is set. You can override the schedule by unplugging and re-plugging the connector. Next time you get the flashing light, leave the connector plugged in and open the driver door and look at the MID. It should tell you the scheduled start time. You can also set it to charge now by pressing the OK button on the steering wheel when the MID shows the charging info.

How many EV miles were left when you started charging in this example? If the battery gets hot during charging, the car will start the AC system to cool the battery. Does the notification come from the Toyota app? Does it say charging stopped or charging completed? I get charging completed when charging is completed from the Toyota app. I get charging stopped messages sometimes, but those usually come when I remove the charging connector from the car (either after charging has completed or if the connector is removed before charging is complete). I wonder if there is some reason that your EVSE is disconnecting. I would try charging overnight with the Toyota supplied EVSE and see if it also stops. You will need to start charging earlier in order to allow 12 hours for a full charge.

Does your 220V charger allow you to change the maximum amperage? If so, dial it down to 20-24 amps. If not, go into the settings on the car and set it to 16 A. That should result in the car charging in around 5 hours if fully depleted, versus the 2.5 hours at a 32A charge rate. If it completes, then it could be something to do with the charge rate and heat. I'm using a JuiceBox 32A WIFI connected charger that I was previously using with my Kia EV6 GT, and am charging at maximum rate. So far, the 2024 Rav4 Prime I have has not had any issues charging. Last night it was at 0 miles EV range and it charged back in a little under 2.5 hours to 100%. I know EV6 owners had issues getting into the 30-40 amp range of charging in terms of heating issues of the charge port connector. I never had that happen, but I recall reading about how it was causing charging issues on that platform.

Using the 110V charger isn't a bad idea just to see if it works as expected.

When the charge does get completed, I get the message from the Toyota App that it has completed and is 100%. When it does not complete the message is it has "stopped charging" and is usually at 80-85%. For unixadm I can't change the the maximum amperage. I haven't tried the 120v cable that came with the car yet. And for wscan I've not kept track of how many EV miles were left when charging started but I'll pay closer attention to that and let you know.

Next time you see the "stopped charging" message on the phone, check the driver's display when you open the car door. It will show a message about the last charging session. It might be useful to know why the car thinks the charging stopped.

To eliminate countless added variables,

(1) clear ALL charging schedules from the car.
(2) disconnect your EVSE from the car.
(3) plug in the stock OE Toyota charging cable to your car and to a 120v AC household outlet.
(4) try to get a full charge.
(5) after doing steps 1 thru 4, let us know your results.

My guess us that your rav4P will perform normally.
