OK, it was bound to happen sooner or later: my parking garage attendant must have backed my RAV Sport (flint mica) into a wall, because there are several perfectly aligned scratches on the spare tire cover. I complained to the manager, and he's going to talk to his higher-ups to see what can be done. Has anyone painted the shell to good results? Or should I just replace the whole thing? Any idea what a new one would cost vs painting it?

Thanks for any tips!

In my opinion it will get scratched every so often and I would not want to think about replacing it every time. From my experience with my previous '02 RAV4, the scratches tend to be less visible with time and a little wax.

A good body shop should be able to match the color without any problems.

I believe I am going to replace my hard cover with a soft one.
I going to get my favorite NFL team logo, Carolina Panthers. 8)
It's mainly black so it won't show as much dirt as my white cover does.
