Does the pollen filter really cleans the air entering into the cabin?

Would be better if there is an auto option like in BMW cars. When the auto-recirculate is on, the computer will automatically switch to recirculate if it senses enough pollutants coming in.
I definitely need to read our new RAV4's manual. I didn't even know there's a "Micro Filter Switch" in the car. I was relying on my wife to read it for both of us.

·I do HVAC engineering. Yes, multiple passes will get you less particulates, as all filters are rated at a certain percentage efficiency per pass. Stands to reason that more passes will filter more out than a single pass. Ex: For a "50% filter", a single pass will yield 50% unfiltered contaminants, but another pass will filter 50% of 50% (leave 25% remaining), then 12.5% remaining on the next pass, then 6.75% and so on. There is definitely enough infiltration in a vehicle cabin to ensure adequate fresh air when in re-circ mode.rjones396 said:

At least replacement is a simple DIY procedure thru behind your bottom glove box, so you don't have to pay your local stealership $100 an hour for such work. I think the filter was about $35.
