I just bought an '03 from a one owner who said the cig lighter quit working a month or so after purchase. I have checked fuse #18 a 15A fuse and it is good. The lighter istself looks to be unused. Any ideas on what could be the problem? Thanks for any help.

If the fuse is ok i have some Ideas:
- Check again if you have checked the right fuse. Replace the fuse, even when it seems to be OK.
- Check with an Voltmeter if you have 12 (ore more) Volts at the lighter.
- Check the DC- Plug on the downside of the lighter.
- Check again if you have checked the right fuse. Replace the fuse, even when it seems to be OK.

+1 - Id vote for a PLUG on the back of the cig socket... if you can eliminate the FUSE

You can see in this image - on the LEFT side there are 2 connectors (Spade connections) maybe one or both of yours are loose or disconnected...??..

You will have to likely remove some interior trim pieces from the bottom of the dash area..... If you still need help, please take it to someone who might know what they are doing... it really is easy to get to once you have the panel off..taoseno said:

I got it working by pulling the ashtray and pulling the plug straight out. The wire connections were completely off the back of the plug; reattach them and viola I have a working cig lighter. I never could figure out how to get that piece of plastic off for easier access. Thanks to all of you...............
